Got the old engine out today. No surprises really other than the clutch and throwout bearing being pretty hammered. I already had ordered a new clutch kit and had a flywheel machined. Someone had already done a head job on this truck and installed the newer style heads. One of the exhaust manifolds had the DII style bolts and spacers also.

Here is the old engine next to the new one.

A parts car DII makes a great paint booth for smaller brackets

I didn't know the truck had one of those fancy D.U.I. distributors which requires modification to the engine lifting bracket on the front. I would have cut one and had it cadmium plated, but didn't find this out until today, so we had to improvise. We cut the bracket to clear the distributor and painted the cut edge. The cut will be covered mostly by the distributor. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Are you going to swap to a serp belt set up? My oil pressure is now in the 30's/40's... So much better than the crap serp pump. Glad I upgraded that on my 4.6

No, if we went that route I would have recommended a GEMS setup. This truck is in great condition in all aspects, so I don't think it would have been necessary. I hate the V belts, but its not worth switching over, especially when the a/c system is in good working order.

Would be a great conversation piece for the living room and if I park it in front of my tv I can do away with the couch and chairs.

2 15k lb winches. He burnt up the 12k winches apparently. That truck has a 5.0L Drew built in the 90's IIRC.

yep, thats the one.
I kept thinking if he hooked up both winches simultaneously he could stretch that 90 into a 110 or even a 130!

Or snap it in half...

Yes it takes more work to fit headers, and there is other downsides compared to properly port & gasket matched manifolds.
