Rear Corner Guards for D90

Here's something I've been working on in my free time. Should have a few pre-production sets done fairly soon... but anyone that follows my work knows I'm usually slower than I am fast.

To those wondering they stick out 2.25" - 2.50" off the side of the tub. Not too far to be obnoxious, but far enough to hopefully keep your rear corners off any rocks or trees....or Prius's... Pri-i?

Also have a version designed to work with the NAS rear tire carrier and early ROW rear crossmembers

I saw these in person (the prototypes) at URE and, as probably goes without saying for Carters work, they are seriously stout. Best on the market easily.

Very nice! Tempted to swap out my Terrafirmas. Too early to get an idea on price?

Just got these back from powder coating, they turned out pretty nice.

Up next will be the ROW & NAS ST versions.

As usual, great looking product. A couple of questions:

How does the cross section or profile on the side portion compare to your HD sliders, which by the way I haven't yet installed on my 90?
Also, the two holes that your using are for a drop down tailgate hinge if used and I believe in that case would impact the alignment and seal of the tailgate. Have you considered using the four holes that say the MOD bumper guard would use?

Thanks

It's similar, but not the same. It becomes an issue of how far do they stick out off the side of the vehicle to achieve the same cross section as the sliders, and I felt that sticking out ~3.5" off the side of the Defender would be too big, clunky, and too much like a bro-style Jeep JK, and no one would want them... maybe I'm wrong though.

These two sets were designed for a SW, so the drop down tail gate was not a consideration and you would have to drill 2 additional holes.

I'm not familiar with the MOD trucks and drop down tail-gate 90's and 110's. Never had my hands on one. Hopefully I will one day, but there just aren't many ROW trucks around where I live, much less anyone who will let me borrow their trucks unfortunately. I've been working off my NAS 90 and a spare frame I've had.

Love how you started with the Safari Gard design and made it better looking. Still working on a price point I assume?

I'm just going to have to move up the timetable of converting my drop down tailgate to a swing out gate. Problem solved! The bumperette I was referring to is pictured below.

I'm still working on a price. These were prototypes. I have a target price in mind, so I'll have to do a small production run to see where my cost and labor is going to come in at.

That being said, these first two prototype sets I will sell for $450 per set.

The only frustrating thing about my SG's is it can be difficult to remove all the mud that can wedge in there. I would also like it if they were not PC'd. They've started to chip a little at the edges. Rattle-can for non-mall crawler versions would be a nice option.
