Overhaulin' (Offroad Trailer)

Overhaulin' (Offroad Trailer)

Finished my trailer project (more or less) I have a few things I have left to do with it, but they can wait untill after the Rally, and weather gets bad.

I can post more photos and details of the build if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks, I'll do a write up when I get some time.

The top is made out of all 5 bar tread plate. 6 feet long and 4 feet wide. I now have alot of respect for the guys that weld up aluminum boats for a living.

Cheers

Mike

Do the axles on those Sankey's come standard to take a 5 on a 6.5 bolt rover bolt pattern, or did you have to convert it somehow?

Regular rover pattern 16" rims come on them. If you want to run alloys you have to relieve the back edge a bit to clear the hub.

Stupid Question: Your trailer and the Adventure Trailers all seem to have a roof rack to hold the tent. Why do it that way? Why not just attach it directly to the lid of the trailer? Are there advantages to doing with a rack?

Thanks for all the feedback

I will do a write up, just need time

1 Mike, No its not braked, Has not been an issue (yet) but it pulls and stops well.

2 Shawn, I started with an M101 Canadian model

3 Will, The rack allows me to attach and detach the tent when not needed and I can use the rack to haul other stuff (Raft, squirt boat, Xmas tree, etc)

That makes sense, thanks. Looks great!

BTW if anyone's interested, there's a raffle for an AT; money goes to a good cause. I bought a ticket (of course I hope to win, but here's everyone's chance):
