Well I finally took the plunge and bought a 94 D90 (NAS). Very happy with it and look forward to years of ownership.
Just did my very little project in my home shop. The D90 had a ugly aftermarket shift knob that wasnt very sturdy (it turned and was loose).
I decided to take a 2 inch chunk of aluminum and my hobby lathe, and make a simple shift knob. I did something similar for one of my old Porsches.
It is secured using an allen screw that I had, but I think I will use a set screw so it is less visible. Works very well. It has a great solid feel to it. It also has the ability to be moved up and down by an inch or so to give some adjustment.
Hope these pictures come out:
Very happy with the results.
