Yes they look nice. Let's see them installed!

Have you thought about making air tanks out of them? Look like they have a large volume.

I'm not in the market, but I'm sure people will want to know how much they weigh and cost as well.

Yo Jon,

Did you finally score a TIG, or did you weld those at class?

Like the boat sides too....

Thanks ya'll. I'll try to get them installed and take them out for some pics probably this weekend when the weather clears up.

Jim,

I TIG'ed these in class. No TIG yet, but I've got my eye on a Dynasty 200DX.

I have considered going with an air-tank setup, but I will hold off until I have a TIG at my shop.

I would guess them to be about 50 pounds a piece.

Cost is still up in the air, probably ~$550/set which will include the sliders, 4 frame mount brackets (2x Tcase, 2x Tube), all the hardware, and probably a few extra goodies as well

Following these with interest, can't wait for the installed pictures!!

Any idea yet on how long before production units are going to be for sale?

Thanks

Ian,

I appreciate your interest.

I will do the install with pics this weekend.

I'll be talking to my laser cutter early next week so I can hopefully get a time line put together.

I finished installing them on the shop 90 last night. It's not the prettiest D90 in the world, but it gets the job done. I re-installed the fender flares too to help people visualize how they'd look on their truck, though I personally prefer the flare-less look.

Keep in mind that all the production units will have laser cut and CNC formed bracketry. These are just the prototypes, allowing me to confirm all of my measurements.

I'll be removing the flares and try to get a couple action shots later today.

X2. They do look good.

Keep us posted on production units and final pricing.

Any chance of a side on or top shot to get an idea how far they stick out?

Ian, hopefully these pics will clear up the width issue.

And with some basic testing on my little test track behind the shop, they do not flex or bend... unlike the old SG rock sliders did that I took off the truck that would flex into the body under the weight of the truck.

That Dynasty 200 DX is what I have. It is a pretty sweet rig. I really like it for its portability. I have used it for TIG and arc in the field running off 110, at limited amperage, and had great results. Then you can bring it back to the shop and plug it right into 220 and have all the juice you need for heavier jobs. It's a good machine.

Just an update on production.

I've been getting all of my CAD files together and converting to a usable format for the laser cutter. Been kinda slow going, after doing NC work all day at job #1, my eyes just kinda glaze over at the sight of more numbers and tolerances.

I've also been pushing hard to get this Toyota burned in and off to paint so I can make room for the next big project

My goal is to have some sort of production forecast next week, and maybe couple sets (XD and HD) ready to ship around x-mas

So what is the difference between the XD and HD versions? Will you be able to do Jack Points and still be able to seal them up enough for air storage? Are you still looking at a 5 bar tread plate option?

Thanks

Ian

XD are the Extreme Duty version pictured in this thread. HD are a more traditional slider w/ nerf bar design. Both will utilize the additional frame outrigger. I am going to do jack points on the next prototype set. As far as the air tank option, that will be down the road a couple months when I have a TIG here at the shop. I could probably get by with MIG, but that welding process is just too prone to small pinholes for me to be willing ship units and say they will be air tight. 5 bar is going to be an option, I just need to find a decent US supplier for it.
