MudUK Center Console into ExMOD Tithonus

So recently I installed the center console from Mud UK into my Ex MOD Tithonus 110. I thought it might be useful to show the work that's been done so far to install this.

First I removed the MOD center dash panel, this simply unscrews from the dash, and the military light switch can be removed by unscrewing the three screws on the panel face, and the one grub screw in the switch knob base to allow the switch to be removed from the panel.

After the original panel is removed, the next step is tocut the original dash panel, following the directions supplied in the Mud UK instructions. I used a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel, which I found to makea really nice neat job, if needing a few wheels to get through the dash.

Next, I had to make one modification to the Mud UK rear panel, to allow an access for the power supply to the military map reading light, as shown in the pictures. This was simply a case of drilling a hole in the correct locations, and inserting a grommet to protect the wiring. Next, the metal panels for the console housing simply drill and screw onto the metal dash panel.

After that, it’s simply a case of drilling holes in the center console face panel to locate the military six way switch, and refitting. I added some foam sealing tape around the console and the dash to make a nice snug fit, but the fit is pretty good ‘out of the box’.

I have also added two 12v power sockets from Blue Sea Systems, which appear so far to be a very good quality product, and I have plans for more additions from Blue Sea as funds allow. I have managed to leave space above the six way switch for a row of Carling switches, and plan to install a CB radio in the space to the top of the console. The space to the sides of the console may be used in the future for either more switches, or extra gauges.

When I brought it over I was thinking I'd blend in, since you all drive on the wrong side I thought I'd better get the steering wheel on the wrong side too , but then I get here and find everyone else brings in RHD trucks. Oh well. I'm guessing it served in Germany with the BAOR at some point, I found a couple of 1 Pfennige coins in the dash when I put the MUD console in.
