Homemade door cards

Hey everyone,

I wanted to make some simple door cards and figured I would share the results if anyone was thinking of doing it as well...

I took 1/8'' composite board from Home depot and cut to fit the door.

Bought some pleather from a fabric store and trimmed 1'' all around.

Used contact cement (3M 90) on the main surface, and high temp hotmelt on the edges

Drilled 7 holes to fit some auto plastic inserts I picked up at NAPA

Installed new door handles to fit over the cards.

Im pretty happy with the results, well see how long they last. Overall cost was about $60 bucks and a few hours of time for both doors.

And that is exactly why Land Rover Defender / Series trucks are so cool--need something that is too expensive or NLA, just fab it up!

I think it looks good, and will consider your technique if I decide to card my MoD 90.

Did it make much difference to the noise level? My guess is yes, but just a guess.

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. I share Mike's curiosity -- did it affect the noise level? Thanks.

Thanks everyone,

Sound improved a little but really didnt change that much. The doors sound solid when you close them now. However I only sound deadened the doors not the whole truck (yet).

Also I have a 2.5NAD so with that screaming in front of me a little road noise is not noticeable
