home made rock sliders

I built a set of rock sliders for myself. I made them out of 1/4 inch 2 X 3 steel for the sliders. The little tree sliders are 1/8 inch thick 1x1 steel.

I started cutting out the steel at 8 in the morning on a Saturday and we finished making them at about 11:00 p.m. Special thanks goes out to Charles who send me some photos of the ones he made for his 110 as I wanted to tie in to the outrigger like Bill Burke did.

Testified that they work! Those were some crazy rock ledges you were bouncing off of at Marble Falls.

Very nice work! Always cool to see DIY rock sliders. Good call putting multiple supports from the tree bar back to the slider, I've seen models with only 3 supports and they can pretzel in pretty badly.

Normal tube mounting at rear?

Any pics of completed unit pre mounting?

I was expecting them to be made out of a nice tiger maple... But they still look great!

Sadly i have no pics of them when they were done, but before I mounted them. I thought I took some but I didn't.

Yes normal tube mounting at the rear. I did make the tube long enough that it went to the very edge of the inside of the frame. I also drilled through the tube in the frame and put a single bolt in place to secure them.

Bill, They need to be touched up as those rocks took the paint off.
