Ghetto-Gardô CB Antenna Mount

I've been wanting to get my CB hooked up since I bought it in February. I've looked at a few of the available solutions and decided that I like the Safari Gard version. But, no time to procure one before the next road trip. So I fabbed up my own shade-tree version. It ain't the greatest but it looks pretty good. It took all friggin' day.

A few photos in more flattering light. And special-issue DC license plate.

Looks good as long as it's grounded well which I'm guessing it is.

On a side note... Are you cappings painted silver?

hey Chris

Thanks, i think I may need to add a ground cable to the inside where everything else is grounded. I'm not sure how to tell but my SWR readings seemed ok. What is the best way to tell if the system is not grounded well enough?

And yeah, the vertical cappings are painted silver hammerite. I believe the rear bed is not original to the truck, the 84 should have galvy cappings.

Check your VOX settings on the CB too. I've heard some funny stories.

just seeing this now...on one of our trips someone left their FRS on VOX. End result was rather amusing.
