Thanks. Hoping to clatter over your way sometime later october or november and finish the cage Now that there is no fuel pump crap in the way it should be a bit simpler.

Thanks. Well, I had a deadline

So, this thing is now up and running, I took it for a 2am loop around DC, down to the Pentagon, along the Potomac, and up Rock Creek Parkway back to the house. Holey CRAP is this thing fun. I outran a beemer that was trying to cut me off and literally scared myself. This conversion has transformed the truck completely, it is like having a new vehicle. The new 5 speed doesn't have all the slop in the mainshaft and the shifting is much more smooth and precise. I didn't mind the 2.25 as much as some but if I had known how great this would be I wouldn't have let the engine sit around for 2 years. Thanks again to all those who have helped. I'm stoked. Hope the feeling lasts

Thanks for the nudge, I have been putting off installing my 200 but I am going to get it out of storage and slap it into my 90

Should be an even larger power diffrence for me since I will be going from the 2.5 NS diesel and you had a petrol

Go for it Dave! Dropping in that 200 should be a cakewalk compared to what I had to do. You'll love it.

Good stuff Dave. Glad to hear you have it all fettled now. When I put the 300 into my 110 I couldn't believe the difference either. I switched from a 2.5 NA diesel and while it was sort of OK, there is just no comparison with a Tdi. Much more fun to drive.

Thanks. I took it down to MAR although with a somewhat late arrival friday night after stopping twice to futz with a temporary expandable drain plug in the engine oil pan. The original one was stripped. I also have a squealing/chirping serp belt which i hope is just the tensioner bearing. Once I fit an EGT gauge the pump is going to need some tweaking as it appears to have been turned up already and makes a bit more black smoke than i would like to be putting out.

Dave, if you want to replace the bearing in the belt tensioner, it's an SKF bearing, part number 6203-2RSH. Really easy to change.

I noticed you said you installed a new belt, did you change the tensioner at the same time?

Brett, that's for the serp belt?

Dave, to answer your question I did change the timing belt which came with a new tensioner. My comment was about noise from the serp belt tensioner wheel.
