300tdi Oil Warning Light Sender

I have determined my 300 tdi engine oil leak is coming from the oil pressure warning light sender; it appears to be dripping from the electrical contact area.

I ordered PRC6387 but have found the treads are wrong - too big. The threads on my leaking sender appear to be M10, and the part is tapered at the end. Anyone else run into this problem? Every retailer website I've visited lists PRC6387 as the proper part.

Any alternative part number suggestions?

Thanks again,
Henry

You're right it's m10 thread. Did it come with a new crush washer?

PRC6387 did come with a crush washer - unfortunately, the threads are not M10. There must be a different part for this application...

Thanks for the reply.

That's the one I bought for mine for my 300tdi. I see another number but the the part doesn't look like it has the right connector.

Mine has 1/8 NPT (tapered pipe thead). No crush washer needed, just thread sealant.
Eric.

Thank you for the replies...

Can anyone confirm the thread type for PRC6387? I just measured the threads on the PRC6387 I was shipped, and it is definitely not M10. It is possible the sender was put in the wrong box.

I did find a thread on a UK forum asking this same question and it fizzled out with no consensus - M10 or 1/8 NPT.

Is anyone aware of another part# for the 300 tdi oil pressure warning lamp sender with m10 threads?

Much appreciated...

Henry

Hit up Brian at Defenders Northwest. If anybody knows the answer and the part number it will be him.

Mine is M8 1.0.
I may have a new sending unit and crush washer in this size if it helps you out.

Hey, thanks for the link. Reading the thread over, it looks as though the poster is converting to a pressure guage. It does confirm I need m10 x 1.0 threads.

It could be the box I got marked PRC6387 contained the incorrect part - it has got me confused. I have confirmed the part contained within is 1/8 NPT thread.
