Think the wings are supports for the cage around the wider cargo box.
That or the kids jungle jim

Or a Tarzan rope mount to climb in the back....

If someone is actually planning to use the truck for what it was built then they might want to consider removing the swing away carrier as it is rather inconveniently located.

The gate is not complete, it will hold two full size spares. He did not know the back spacing so we didn't mount the tire mounts. He will do that back in Florida before he paints it.
