VDO Vision electric speedo

I am swapping out my gauges on my 110 and I want to replace my speedo with an electric VDO vision speedo. I am trying to get some guidance on how to swap the old mechanical speedo with the newer electric VDO speedo.

I will be watching this thread. Would like to do the same thing to my 110.

Are these the correct VDO Speedo options?:

1) Mechanical: http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...ockpit&Units=E

2) Electronic: http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...ockpit&Units=E

There are threads on this already. Do a search.

You need a 4" gauge so that one linked is not suitable.

That's fine. Will, let's just PM each other and not post in a completely open forum for advice.

I'm sure he didn't mean to be a jerk about it but there is a huge "Merged Thread" that details all the info on the VDO Swap for the Speedo as well as all the other gauges. There are some really great write-ups and misc. info that will never be duplicated in a new thread...

See These:

I'm sorry if you found my reply terse. I was on my phone and could not search and link for you with the phone app. It seems reasonable that you should be able to search a topic of interest by yourself.

In addition to the threads noted above there is also a tech article written here: http://www.defendersource.com/tech/s...placement.html

If you have any problems or specific questions, please let us know.

The speedo needs to be a 4" electronic unit. The VDO Vision series is the best choice IMO. These are available in a few different dial choices. There are also full metric versions (not available at egauges). http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...Vision&Units=E

The "Cockpit" series uses reflected dial lighting and is not as nice to use as the "Vision" through dial lighting.

I always wondered what the difference was between the two! Thanks!

By the way...I haven't used the Emoticons in a while....HILARIOUS!
