RSOV is done

Several people asked about the RSOV we built so I figured we would share the details.

Started as a 1984 110 that I purchased years ago from John Miller and some parts that we got from a D-90 member thrown in for good measure.

After 3 trips to the musem at Fort Bragg and sweet talking the curiator into letting me crawl all over the truck there, we built the truck as close to what she was when in service as we could.

The complete process took about 3 months once I started cutting body panels.

Started with mostly new parts like a Military Chassis, Rear Tub, front fenders, bonnet, firewall, floors and the like. Most of the military garb was found on Ebay and through Crane Technologies in Indiana.

We painted the truck in proper CARC paint sourced from Sherman Williams.

Custom parts (such as the roll cage and the front storage boxes) where built locally.

Overall we spent 450 labor hours and I'm scared to add the total cost for the panels, shipping, rivets, welding and other such material cost.

The truck drives like a brand new truck (as it mostly is) and pulls 70 MPH with the 200 TDI.

She is parade ready...

What ever happened to the real one that was almost used as target practice? You don't happen to have the top of the bulkhead you chopped off, do you?

The real truck was the motivator but was so destructed that we could not even get accurate measurments from the hulk. I have some firewall bits knocking around whats needed?

We used the RSOV today for some military industry photos. While we were at it the guy shot a few extra shots of the truck.

I drive it whenever the rain holds off. Always gets some looks at Star Bucks.

Wow - that is an absolutely phenomenal RSOV build. Well done. I would love to see this in person one day. Maybe you can convince our recently risk-averse Army to let us have these at the HMMWV replacement.

I have seen this thing in person and it really is all that and a bag of chips. Completely badass. I took some pics and was going to post it on my build page but never got around to it. I am eagerly waiting for Stephen to put that seatbox storage locker into production...Hint...wink..wink
