Finally had a chance today to make up my OBA system box, sits behind the pass seat built into the front of the wheel well, enough room for the bigger ARB compressor and tools.

I have added a picture of the outside panel that shows the outline with rivets for the internal box.

This mod will not work with NAS as you need this area for the under tub support bar. But as BONER is a homeland LR90 which did have a bulkhead its the best place to put the comp. Wasted space anyways.

The SD roll cage RBL092 will reconnect the sides and roof in nearly the same place as the B/H so the cage will stiffen it all up again. (BUT still waiting on shipping notice of the cage SAFARI HP)

Next areas to get done is a locker fitted under the "what was the middle seat" just gotta work on the hinge placement and a under floor tool/storage box at the rear of the tub, where the NAS LR's have a fuel tank. Should be a good size this one.

Roll cage

Fitting SD LR092 roll cage, been slow going as the instructions supplied are worthless. The rear Diagonal braces where they go thru the rear wheel boxes need very careful measurements as the supplied measurements are wrong.

Need to make extra cover plates to hind the extra cuts.

But in all pretty good, need to weld on some light mounting bracket tabs on the top windshield bar sometime. Not fitted by SD

I have never seen that particular cage before. Is the cage close enough to the seat backs to impede reclining them back ?

Doug, no this cage sits four inches back and was one of the reasons I wanted this one. I had to get rid of the bulkhead to have the seats slide back and recline some. The tub sides bolt to the cage which returns some of the stiffness that the B/H did.

thanks ya'll

That's quite an interesting cage!

It looks like SD used a different approach for this design. One-piece bars straight through the front wings and a massive internal hoop. Looks to be similar to and/or based on the Series land rover cages they build.

They certify the cage as an "8 point cage", as opposed to the full exo design which looks to be a 6-point.

fitting the IG console

updated photos

Fitting the Iron Goat console. I have no worries about cutting into the dash parts as this console will be a great asset having extra switch places, never did like those pod things you stick on top of the dash.

The hardest part of fitting the console is starting. take the "hockey stick" off and remove the grey vent panel as these can be cut later if you so wish so. I forgot to say throw those bloody directions away.

When you have those bits off you can offer the support frame up, you will have to pull the lower dash down a bit, I loosened the screws a bit. with the support panel in place you can now see what has to be cut. Cut on the big size as you can trim it later. I did use double sided tape and the back of the support panel to hold it in place while drilling the holes out for the screws.
I do intend pop riveting it in place once all has been done.

It really boils down to using common sense, and a sawsall. when you are happy with the fitting of the support panel just take your time cutting the rest to fit. some say you can leave the gray vent panel in place.

Had a chance to get my towing arrangements sorted out on the rear crossmember, and modified the right hand side rear corner protector so I can get the tyre carrier on bolted back on.

Looking great! Like the OBA fab work. Is that hitch custom? Looks like you could pull a house down with it!

Thanks Don, yes the hitch was made in house the cross bars to the chassis also serve as mounting points for the long range fuel tank protector plate.

The hitch will serve my purpose well.

Just wanted to post up a couple of pictures of two of three of my blue sea fuse boxes, first one sits on a bracket bolted the the brake servo, the relays are fitted behind the plate. this powers head lights, cooling fan and with two spare.

The other fuse panel sits on a bracket behind the heater fan unit the relays sit under the panel, this powers the roof lights, driving and/or fog lamps & horns with two spare spaces.

The third panel will be in the battery box to power compressor, fridge & misc

This sort of ties in with Chris Snells post "Battery Box Redux" using blue sea fuse panels

I am not finished yet, the reason from some un-secured wiring
