picture request - engine painting, etc.

Hello all,
I am in the process of restoring my 88 110 and have been faced with an interesting question I had not considered. I was asked what color I wanted the rebuilt engine, transmission and transfer cases to be painted. The engine is a rebuilt 3.9 with performance cam, the transmission is a conversion to a ZF auto and the transfer case is upgraded to a LT230Q. I would like paint that makes it clear that I have had the work done - something special. Initially I was thinking traditional engine silver colors (cast grey) but was interested to know what others have done. My truck is epsom green so was wondering about valve covers in green, etc. Red seems to be a color used a lot too.

Any recommendations or pictures of what you all have done in your restoration projects?

full disclaimer - in the process of restoring means I am having a mechanic do the work. While technically capable, I unfortunately do not have the time or space to do much of the work myself.

Could you clarify. Why would you paint the engine, transmission or t-box? There all aluminum so it's not like they're gonna rust. I always just clean them really well. Paint may look good at first but may start to look bad as it wears.

There's no paint on any of it, unless you want to put it there for some unknown reason.
Any paint that comes out of a rattle can is garbage, unless you are talking about the 2 part urethanes that come from Tower Paint.
If you MUST paint, you'll need to prepare the aluminum with an etching primer, followed by a good epoxy primer and then a good quality topcoat.

Here's a pic with no paint. It looks more factory original if your into that.

thanks all - the engine, tranny etc would be painted with appropriate paints. The supper clean engine picture above looks great. I will see if that is possible.
