[ 0 bids ]

Item Location: Marshville, North Carolina, United States

VIN: SALDV2284RA943946

Mileage: 300

Engine: 300 Tdi

Comments: fresh rebuild one year ago, complete disassemble for paint, NAS110 Safety Devices cage- all like fresh!!

Additional Comments:
This was a client's custom build- his first Defender, who decided to go a different venue with modern creature comforts and amenities. Only 300 miles the past year indicative of his loss of interest. While this creates a wonderful opportunity to to purchase a great Defender, it should also make one realize this is NOT an Escalade or Range Rover!! It is a basic Defender with amenities added, but at it's core, it is a world renowned back country exploration vehicle. It is certainly capable of daily driver duties, and in fact will return 27+ mpg doing so. But, they have their quirks, and are not for everyone. They are loud, stiff, slow whilst being solid proven military and UN platforms. If your expectation is realistic to their design, you will be in love for ever. However, if you expect a modern day luxury experience, you will be grossly disappointed!!

So, on to what this exceptional Defender has to offer. She is loaded with options like canvas seat covers including jump seats, heated seats, heated windscreen, stereo, A/C, new tires, new suspension springs and shocks, winch, spare tire carrier, LED lights, new alloy hinges, Hannibal roof rack, Safety Devices cage, sill sliders/side steps, complete disassemble and color change to Sahara Tan, and more- not to mention a fresh 300 Tdi drivetrain!! The Defender is kitted, and ready to go for many years of enjoyment!! Feel free to inquire about adding your personal touches!!! If you are unfamiliar with our builds, please visit our showroom of sold vehicles, as well as the restoration page at thervrbarn.

Please realize this vehicle is 20 years old, and as such offers no warranty what so ever. The vehicle is sold as is, where is, with pick up or shipping at the buyers expense. Prebid inspection is welcome and encouraged- however, once you bid, your obligation is to purchase, not inspect.

Bidders with less than 5 transactions or feedback less than 100% must contact me prior to bidding, or your bid will be cancelled. I apologize for this stipulation, but this is a sincere listing and only want sincere bidders. Please realize this also ensures real bids and prevents artificial inflation by ghost bidders. Thanks for your cooperation.

Cheers, and good luck bidding!! More pictures to be uploaded tomorrow, sorry, but rain today...

Would love to hear jcb-Memphis chime in with his thoughts on the rig - great looking build. I loved Sahara Tan as a color so much I briefly looked at buying a Jeep just because of that 2011-12 color. I assume Dale will start a FS thread we can chime in with questions

Dale update your eBay ad with some useful pictures because I think your ad is confusing more people than it is giving clarity. At first I thought it was an ad for you to build a Defender and you were just using jcb's pics for reference. It looks like from the questions, others are a little confused as well.

Hint: there are completed photos of the truck in this thread!

From that eBay listing, did this end up selling for (only) $50,050? There has to be a back story as that is one gorgeous truck.

No, it did not sell. There was tremendous interest, but also some reservation with all the scuttle butt concerning Tdi's.
So, we are building a new 4.6 and using an auto tranny setup, which should be done in a few more weeks. Everyone who has seen the truck has been quite complimentary- it is basically a new truck!! Also, it can not be replicated for anywhere close to the asking price.
Lastly, with these changes, it becomes a 50 state legal candidate.
For updates please see the website.
Cheers

I wish Jeff would come back and shed light onto how/why he lost interest so quickly. It seemed as though he was super excited to get his hands on this truck last year, and then only drove it 300 miles? From the previous page it looks like he picked it up and drove it home; I thought his home was even more than 300 miles from NC! What'd he just drive it home and park it? Such a shame - this truck deserves to be appreciated. Dale, are you going to update your build page on your website with this project?

I met him half way (trailered so I could return- his schedule was quite full), hence the miles.
Doubt I have time to Josh, but perhaps later on... after it gets the new 4.6/auto. Or perhaps an overall from salvage the first time, the second time, then the Tdi, and finally the 4.6?!

One would think at that asking price that they would have already cleared the salvage title and gotten a proper title.

Noticed this was back up on ebay and at their website. I always like the clean look of this particular defender. Am curious what those of you that know of this vehicle think about its value now vs in the future. Is there any reason to steer clear of a rebuilt defender like this one? I really like it and was thinking of bidding on it, just would love anyones thoughts about it. I did see the whole history of it being a tdi then swapped to a v8 with an auto transmission. The automatic would make my better half happy. thanks for any input anyone wishes to offer,

She is a good solid truck- good bones so to speak. I have pics of the initial build and the second conversion to a 4.6. However, the first owner spent dollars on cosmetics, but not so much on suspension and such. The second owner wanted it to match his AEV, which it did in appearance but not functionally. Then the current owner purchased it and did quite a bit to make it suit his taste, though I do not know all the details there as it was done in Co.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

thanks for the info. I did as much reading on this defender as i could find, i did find your website also. I was wondering if i would have any issues with getting it titled in Ky? i'm not familiar with rebuilt titles, would you know about that by chance? thanks, chad
