I'll say in my conversion to the 4.6 I can easily do 80 mph on the highway and it's smooth. That said, I did a few of those additional upgrades: chip, five-o injectors (LUCAS 01D062B), ceramic coated headman headers (part# 39806), Eastern high flow bullet cats, Magnecor ignition cables (part # 85196), Mallory distributor (part # 4764301). It's all about how much you want out of it.

I replaced my ECU with a used ECU from a Discovery. The 4.6 now runs great. So that makes me wonder what ECU was put into my truck by the guy I paid big $$ to do the work. Any idea what this ECU is out of? Hooked up to the wide band computer, the truck runs completely differently.

Did you see any corrosion in the original ECU? Pull the plastic covers and see what prom numbers you had.

No. I installed a used 4.6 ECU as troubleshooting and it now runs so well I may do nothing til I pull the truck apart again.
