MINI seats in a 90

Had some fun fitting MINI seats in a NASD90, without any modifications to the Rover.

Did you use the rover seat mounts or the mini mounts in the existing holes? Hard to tell from pics...........Do the bottoms come out?

Thanks!
Very high bolsters on the side, but the front at thigh is about 2" higher.
Fabricated a frame that is secured to the factory bolt holes.
The MINI frame/tracks is bolted to that. The MINI rails are narrower.
The driver's under box cover required a little trim on the left hand side, but is still secured with the clasp. Made a L shaped tab at the rear to locate it the same way as stock. Used the foam that seals floor boards to seal the cover to the seat box. Basically, the cover is 1/8" higher. The seat has a manual height adjuster that when fully up, the jack will pass through and jumper cables could be manipulated safely.

Nice Job on the install! What year Mini? Did the seats have heaters and air bags? I loved the seats in the Mini I had and I miss the seat heaters.

Air bags and belt tensioners yes, heaters no. Obviously did not wire up the air bags, removed the tensioners and buckle......
Not sure the year of the seats, the customer bought them from LKQ and had them shipped here.

Trevor, what is the advantage here?
Are Mini seats more comfy and/or cheaper?

Follow up question....would it be possible to fit the REAR Mini Countryman seats in place of the 90 bench??

How do you get to the battery box?
I have had to completely remove non-Rover seats to remove or replace the battery.

Jeff, The owner rode in his friend's MINI and decided he liked them.
Robert, the seats have a manual lever for adjusting the vertical height. Allows enough room to manipulate jumper cables and the bottle jack through the gap. Maybe not gracefully, but hopefully doesn't need those on a regular basis!
The seats are mounted to a fabricated frame that is in turn mounted to the 4 original mounting holes. Just remove those 4 bolts and the fabbed frame and seat come out as one unit. Passenger's seat the same way.
Originally, we had left the MINI adjustable seat tracks in place, but when Randy came out to take the car home, we all decided the overall seat height for him, at 5'9", was too high. Taking the tracks out lowered the seat 1.250". Should have done that in the first place, but I was hung up on having adjustability.....
