Metal or plastic fenders?

I have seen for sale front side fender replacements made from plastic rather than alum.
Anyone tried these?
Pros and cons?

The plastic seems to be more expensive @ least @ Rovers North.

I have a pair of the outer skins but haven't fitted them so can't comment on them yet.

I used a front left 200tdi and the fender flare holes didn't line up at all.
