Was this Defender near salt water or in the rust belt?
I have never seen a front bumper rusted through...

from my buddy will, we don't know if it is the actual truck in the pic but we are trying to find out! I am hoping it is, that way I can justify keeping it.

That is one of the "once in a lifetime finds" in my opinion. Very cool.

Damn that's awesome they actually did a real photo shoot back then. So genuine.

Unfortunately today's ads would have a stuffy broad chasing after her husband in the new Range as he leaves her on side of road after an argument about the Amex bill.

Your VIN pic just cut out the build month/year. What month was it made?
Oh, and very cool. Coniston green '95 SW are among my favorites!

So, who exactly is this friend/buddy "Will" that you speak of? He sounds like a pretty cool guy......

Yes, he is 100% real White Rhinoceros. The photos for the ad were actually shot in upstate South Carolina. The rhino's name is "Tank" and he lives at a private zoo named Hollywild, just north of Spartanburg. I got to meet him in-person back in the day. See the photo attached below; my wife and I are kneeling in the lower left side of the frame; Tank you won't miss!

Great find! I look forward to the next chapter. Maybe LR can use that truck in another ad in the future?

perhaps useful for LRNA to have present at the next defender launch. Though they might not want their new one to be so directly compared...
