More progress today.

Four more hours of work. I hate taking off the passenger side fender on NAS 110s.

Looking at pic 6, I have no understanding of how a 110 bulkhead rots like that. you would think they prime it will salt based paint. The under heater box rot scares me.

True, but the most recent donor had a good chassis and bozman sold me a new galvanized rear crossmember.

The new chassis will wait for the next build.

Ron

edit: it is 1:35 am and I am drunk. I better remember to wake up tomorrow am.

edit2: how the heck do you get the steering colum off? I had to mangle the steering column bracket to get it off. Don't tell me I have to drill out the bolts on the ignition switch to make it work properly.

You have to drill out the bolts on the steering column to make it work properly.

Of course you could also cut slots in the bolts with a dremel and take them out with a screwdriver.

Yeah Ron, the column comes out through the engine compartment so you have to remove all the interior stuff first.. Looks good..

I mangled my bracket to get it out the other way.

So, I sort of got it swapped in a weekend. I would have done the harness, but I do not have the right size hole saws. I measured the ECU hole at 2 1/4in and the main harness hole at 1 5/8ths.

Going to permanently bolt down some series covers and run a quasi 1993 NAS 110 dash set up.

You are truly an enigma Ron. You'd galvy your balls, but are not going to do the chassis. You build a monster garage but still work out in the dirt. To each his own. Looking forward to seeing the results!

That is the way of the Ninja. It keeps his enemies guessing, especially for parts. I take that back, we all know Ron will buy it. Haha

Looking at your progress makes me cringe at the thought of the task before me. I have owned my 110 for almost 1 year and driven it all of 3 weeks.

I should be done by 2020. I put in most of the harness this weekend (melting a wood hole saw, but it did work) and the wiper motor assembly (I did not realize that the td5 bulkhead was so different and I had to cut some brackets off), but I was substantially held up because my order from RN did not show up on friday as I thought it would, plus I need some more stuff I forgot to order, namely rivnuts for the steering column bracket.

I did buy the last of the stuff (I think) I need to convert the rear axle to discs. With the detroit I will be into the axle for over $1000 but it will have new axle shafts, new rotors, calipers, pads and DI hubs and flanges. I can't make up my mind whether to leave well enough alone and save the parts for the other truck or do this one up.

Eventually I may galvy the chassis but it is in pretty good shape and I figure it has another 10 years in it. My biggest decision now is whether to fit the dormobile roof to this one or save it for the other one.

Ron

No work this weekend. It was raining so I put the motor back in the lotus with the help of Dom. (lotus was holding the spot in the garage). Some pics tonight.
