Those new floor pans looks awesome! They should stiffen things up pretty good.

That's certainly the way to go. Just wish it was that easy to get them off when they're installed and the caps start spinning.

Donor Front Axle

A little more to report. Sunday I tore into the disco 1 front donor axle. The casing on the Defender axle was pretty shot, and from what I can tell the casings look to be the same on the two.

I was originally planning on using the Defender Hubs, brakes, Diff, Half shafts etc but I realized that I have the wide drive flanges and therefore won't work with my alloy's. So back to all the Disco parts.

I have run into one potential problem though, and I would appreciate some feedback on this, there seemed to be a bunch of backlash between the diff and the hub ends. I had assumed it was in the differential, but after getting everything apart there is barely any in the diff itself. There is a bit of play between the half shaft and the diff spline interface hopefully that's ok....

Where the play seems more prominent though is between the splines of the shaft and the drive flange. You can see some wear on the shaft splines and I'm wondering should I just run it like this till it eventually strips or should I be looking for new shafts, or new shafts and flanges right away?

One thing after another with this project... I know I'm not the only one in this boat.

Flanges seem to wear first in my experience. I would shuck out for a good used set. You sure there is no wear in the spider gears of the diff? That seems to be the worst (I toasted one and caught one just in time).

Cleaned all the gunk off this evening and had a closer look. The diff seems great, nice and tight and the spider gears look perfect.

The Drive flanges and cv/shaft end have some worn notches in them. Took a few photos and short video to illustrate. Maybe this is ok? The perfectionist in me won't likely let these go back on the truck though.

Anyone got a set of disco 1 cv/shaft in great shape cheap? Didn't budget for this.

Global British Inc. / Dominic Perodeau

Well unfortunately it looks like this project will never come to fruition. Not for lack of time or ambition or anything within my control. Rather it is due to the Shop/Vendor I purchased the truck from: Global British Inc. formerly known as Land Rover Salvage Inc. and Run by Dominic and Scarlett Perodeau in Madoc Ontario.

They have not provided me with the ownership that was supposed to come with the vehicle even though it was paid in full in June 2013, despite repeated promises to do so. In fact I have recently found out that the vehicle was purchased by them from it's previous owner as a "parts car" with no title. Of course this wasn't disclosed to me at the time of purchase, my bill of sale clearly states I was buying a licensed vehicle.

Further I paid in full for a new chassis, bulkhead, engine and numerous other parts. To date I have received about $200 of the new parts I ordered even after having assurances I would have it all by September of 2013.

After months and months of attempting to get whats owed to me, or parts of equal value, or a refund I have had no success. So I have have turned the matter over to the police.

I would have to recommend to anyone in Canada (or the US for that matter) to look elsewhere for purchasing or service.

The rolling truck I have is now disassembled and I will likely start to sell off the parts to try and re-cup a small fraction of my investment. I have a lot of parts I bought from other vendors that were destined for this project including new front axle with vented discs, LHD dash etc etc Will start posting up in the sale forum sometime soon.

Although this was a huge financial hit for me, and it almost made me throw in the towel with Defenders I do have a new project on the horizon. I have manged to pick-up a 1997 110 from the guys at Tophat in the Netherlands so things are starting to look up again.

What a crappy deal. Sorry to hear about your loss.
Glad you are jumping back in and your new tuck looks like it will be great, but it's like being told you are going to get kicked in the balls, nice to know, but doesn't make it hurt any less.
I hope the police can get some stuff to stick to those basterds.

I went over to the Netherlands to see it before I bought, so as long as the shipping goes reasonably smoothly I think I have a decent idea what I'm getting into. Hopefully...

Well, to make a long story short, Dominic came out to the Land Rover Community selling $250 coil spring spacers.
He was called out on his ridiculousness.

Carges Laid Global British Inc. Dominic and Scarlett Perodeau

Well a little bit of movement from the authorities. Charges have been formally laid against Dominic Perodeau and his wife Scarlett Perodeau and their business Global British Inc.

We'll see where things go from here.

Global British/ Perodeau Convictions

Thought I would post a little follow up of this whole ordeal since I just got back from the court sentencing of Dominic Perodeau and Global British Inc.

There was some plea bargaining that I'm not entirely privy to, but the outcome was that some charges were dropped, including all those against Dominics wife Scarlett Perodeau.

Although it was a bit of a complex sentence since there were two provincial agencies and multiple complainants, the basic outcome is as follows.

Global British Inc. (formerly Land Rover Slavage) and Dominic Perodeau are both convicted.

The sentence mostly relates to Mr. Perodeau and is two years of probation. He is further ordered to pay back the complainants (involved in these cases) with monthly payments with the full reparations to be completed before the two year probation is up. Further to that he is not allowed to sell any vehicles or vehicle parts to consumers during the probation period.

Overall I see this as a positive outcome as it appears that there will be enforcement of the ruling. My previous small claims victory proved to be of very little use as there are few available and useful enforcement options.

If anyone notices Dominic Perodeau or Global British trying to sell parts to consumers I would appreciate a heads up, as this is a violation of his probation.

Well obviously avoid the above mentioned. I'm not sure I'm aware of all the dealers, and I suppose it depends on if you're looking for parts or service.

I hear good things and have had a good experience myself with Three Brothers.

Feel free to drop me a line if you are questioning a dealer maybe I know something or I can ask around....
