I just did a 12j to 300 conversion on a santana, we kept the lt77thus the short bell housing.
the owner located a conversion kit which moves the engine mount location from middle of block to front end of block on the 300.
straight bolt on, even exhaust down pipe was included on this kit. it is very comprehensive, I think the same kit would work for a 200 to 300 conversion.

It's prolly the one from Steve Parker. I looked at that kit and it seems so stupid easy to booger weld up a RH side mount. it's $400 odd bux to get the kit.

I remember one of the foreign guys on Pirate saying that the 300tdi shares one motor mount with the 200tdi. And IIRC you could use the 200tdi frame mount for the other side and rig a mount that will work with the 300tdi.

Ed, Clay and I got the old lump out in one piece with the trans and transfer case attached. The crane wasn't really up for the task prolly should have started with tractor bucket and that would have made it a lot easier. As it was we got the engine up and out but then got stuck with the engine on he crane and nowhere to go. Parked the whole mess on a sawbuck and got the crane outta the way then moved in with the loader and that was all it took. That was it for Saturday. Sunday morning I was gonna hit it hard and get the 200 broken down, but i ended up in bed in agony with a kidney stone...ouch! 8 hours later I was feeling well enough to just clean up the previous day's mess and get on the road....

Noodling. One thing I'm not super happy with is that the bottom stud holes on the flywheel housing don't line up with the stumpy bellhousing. Not a big deal I suppose but I wish I could get a fastener there.

I noticed the same thing. Plenty of holes but none line up on the bottom 1/4 or so.

I thought about drilling and tapping but in reality I think there are more than enough on the rest of it, and the flange it slips over is really where the strength is.
