Doncha love how all the paint is coming off the inside of the bulkhead? The guys that painted it left it outdoors and it got white oxide all over the exposed areas. They didn't clean that off just shot it with paint and now....
I will probably just scrape it all off as best I can and put the Hardura over it and say done.

Won't win any contests for beautiful welds, but it won't leak and it fits pretty good.
Got the remaining exhaust placed and sorta tightened up. I need to fab some hangers.
The muffler is kinda wonky. The pipes have some rather inexplicable bends. If I hadn't already spent the money, I coulda done as good a job with off the shelf mandrel bends. I think I may delete this muffler as it has to sit up in there pretty weirdly cocked in order for the pipes to line up halfway right.

I woulda tried to get it running but I ran out of time plus I was lacking an oil filter. Next visit, I will certainly have it moving under its own steam.

Looks good and straight. How did you leak test it? At some point way down the road I will need to fab up an exhaust for my rig and wondering what ways there are to do it.

I didn't. I just made sure that there is a solid bead of weld all the way around. It's one of those situations that you have to make a gazillion little tack welds all the way around the pipe. With a wire welder they look a bit snot like. If I were doing it again, I'd redo it from stainless. Maybe in another year or two I'll hit up Charles for the use of the TIG and make a forever exhaust.

My welder/fab buddy says the best way is to air pressure test but it seems like it would take a bunch of work to set up correctly. When I did my Toy axle I did a water method to look for leaks and that wasn't perfect either. It has been holding oil up to the fill hole but I still don't have any miles on it. And I hope my welds are strong enough when it hits something.

Like I said it looks nice and straight and once it is under a Rover and going thru heat cycles it will blend in. Almost a shame to put nice shiny stuff on the bottom of these trucks especially in many east coast climates.

Final assembly of lower dash.
Solved the starter circuit issue by reinstalling the cole-hersee push button start switch (2A diesel has no switched power on START position, so no open fuel solenoid on diesel pump!) I also put the starter circuit power on white wire switched power so you have to key it to run the starter.
The lower dash took a long part of the day due to the awkward positions you must contort yourself in order to get the fittings in.
Got the panel cut and the second Auber gauge for boost installed. The programming is a little time consuming. Have to rework the hose for the boost pressure supply a little, the sensor is mounted to the bulkhead.

Auber sensor attached to boost pressure line. I made it from 1/4 brake line. Don't worry I'll get all that wiring tidied up momentarily.
That's 500 degree flouro-elastomer hose. Good for 150 psi. There will be virtually no extra room in the engine bay. It's gonna be packed full.

Wahooowa! Fired engine. Runs great. Had a few loose fittings to tighten up ( got a nice puddle of diesel on the floor ) and the water pump pulley was loose. Nipped all that up, purring happily no smoke.

Here's some bulkhead porn, enjoy.

Needs seats and floors. Seat kits just arrived at RN last Friday, so still has to get here. Front floors and tunnel adapter need to be fitted. cubby box, CB, Headliner. Seat belts too. Needs a shakedown. Then HH.
I can always use an extra set of hands!
