It's the kind of thing you can do in the evening. You just have to check every once in a while. No big deal.

Progress on the plating. Still about 20-odd more this and thats to go. Mostly nut plates for the door latches and such.

Not yet, Doug. Concentration is on getting it running and driving. Maybe in the spring. It is in the plan tho.
Here's a pic of the latest and greatest plating set up. Now endless power. The light bulb (tail light bulb from L691 lamp) is my resistor. Keeps the amps down enuf that the stuff doesn't effervesce. Winning!

Relief for shock tower on LH wing. Since I don't have an English wheel and a bunch of other metal forming tools I made a box. Slightly tapered at the top.
Next up: a box for the steering shaft and the brake master cylinder.

Just for your relief it was not a good wing. It corroded away at all the tabs and it has been hit in the front, and someone already cut it.

I thought I was real slick with the intercooler mount. Well a little fitting and I find it fouls the steering pump (please, what doesn't). So lamenting my fortune I thought I might see what would happen if I flipped it. Bingo!
As you can see I need to do a little work on the bracket to make the corners clear. But heck look at all that room under the headlight bucket. Hey a 1/8 of an inch is as good as a mile sometimes.

What! Ended up having to hit the light bucket with a heat gun and pushing it in with the silicone elbow. Now it clears dammit.

Doug you can make many gallons of electrolyte for about 25 clams. The only thing you have to send for is the zinc chloride. All else you get at the grocery store. The zincs in the bucket are two halves of a rudder zinc. Power supply as you see is a battery charger. I have a lamp holder in line to the negative side and a 1157 bulb as a resistor. Parts hang from copper wires. I have a long bit of brass rod as hanger/negative bus.
The smalls take about a half to three quarters of an hour. You gotta keep checking and if the parts fizz and bloom you clean them off in clear water and put them back in. Easy as pie.
Don't buy the kit it's super way overpriced.

Wow- had no idea it happens that fast. I still have a bunch of Camp "merican" made zincs somewhere that I bought for swim platform struts. So does leaving them longer than 45 mins get a thicker coating or does it start to bloom ?

No harm just thicker coat. In 45 it's as thick as a coat of paint. It's all you need.
It's nice cz it doesn't glop like galvy. It coats every nook so it's good for little brackets and stuff you make. Can paint or leave bright.
An hour reading about home brew plating on the web will get you all you need to know.
The 88 in a Day dude went way overboard with his set up. You don't need to be super precise. If it's fizzing you need to reduce amps, that's the only secret.
