Gents, I am still exploring this option. It may be worth contacting Lucky 8 to see if they can do better. My concerns are at the dock. Costs are only one piece. We also need to know where the chassis will be unloaded/stored. Can they load it onto a low trailer (as opposed to a standard loading dock height), etc.

I have asked for a shipping quote that includes all of the dock/customs fees so I only have to worry about picking it up. I'll let you know.

Also, I am working with a US shipper to see if they can do better.

Evidfij, what is Lucky 8 doing? Did they give you a price on a chassis? I didn't see anything posted.

With an LCL shipment the container will ship wherever the consolidator loading the container is closest to the majority of the freight is going.

For instance when living in Annapolis I had a tdi drive train shipped to Baltimore from Liverpool. The container actually went to Newark and my freight got trucked down to Baltimore where I had to pay a warehouse a $180 fee.
Another fee not mentioned is VACIS. quite often consolidated container shipments get examined. When that happens the exam fee gets randomly split out amongst the consignee's who have freight in the box.

For anyone who hasn't seen it lucky8s thread for a group buy is in the vendors loft section.... Now, anyone doing one of these to land on the west coast?
Defenders northwest is offering 3900 for a 110 chassis on their website but I've been trying to get ahold of them for weeks with no success

I tried to talk to Lucky8 about a chassis but I could not get a firm quote on the price.

I had a
-price for the chassis from Richards.
-shipping from NH to NJ
but I could not a quote for the cost of shipping from UK to US port.

Well I've been planning a chassis purchase for over a year now, thought I was all set now that I've got the cash in hand to spend... But now I can't get anyone to get back to me lol
At this point it's almost comical.. Been trying to put down a deposit or make firm arrangements since July with no luck

I have a new Richards galvanized chassis for sale here in the US. It is brand new, uninstalled, for a NAS 90 V8...

PM me if you want to touch base -- I will assist with shipping.

Thanks,

Chuck

The thread on the group buy is in the Vendor's Loft section.

I am also talking to Lucky8 for a quote on a chassis. I think the final cost of the UK to US shipping will depend on how many people are in on the deal. You can get a lot of chassis into a shipping container and I suspect that the rates will be reasonable once they have a final number, if enough people are interested. Lucky8 is a pretty reputable vendor and they have done a lot of group buys, always quite reasonable.

Anyone have experience shipping something this size from east coast to west coast? Any thoughts on how much it might be?

Thanks for the updates. I am just trying to get an all in price to decide whether or not to proceed with the purchase. RN quoted $5500 for the same Richards chassis (S3 Military chassis)
so I am using that as a ballpark to comparison.

The hard time I have is that the chassis only has about $500 worth of steel in them.

Rob - email me directly - we have been shutting down the existing e-commerce site due to issues and are launching on a new platform next month.

I got $3122 shipped
110 200tdi td5 rear tank setup, tranny crossmember, and rear SW crossmember.

to a friends business locally.
DAP shipping. Which through some research seems to mean, shipped to us, but we're responsible for fees on this side.

I have decided that the shipping, import/dock/etc fees are too much of a PITA. I am going to jump onto the Lucky8 group buy. If interested, contact Erik. The buy is open until the end of September.

Richards will ship to you for a price. I just got a quote for a ROW 110 chassis, gearbox crossmember, floor crossmember, and shock turrets. Base price was 2249 plus an additional 1080 for shipping. That doesn't include any fees on my end to actually get it into the country.

Not really worth it in the end when Rovers North well sell you a chassis for between $3200 and $4000 depending on what version you need. RN has a galvanized gearbox crossmember, so you have to source the other parts separately.

I got in on the Lucky8 group buy. The chassis for my 109 arrived in mid-April.

I went with Lucky8 as they were cheaper then RN for the same Richards chassis.

If you are willing to wait then going in on a group buy makes sense.

Rick

I got one of the Lucky 8 deal chassis for my 110. No cross member. It arrived in mid-April and shipped to a freight depot about 20 miles from my house. Starting to disassemble the beast but slow going.
