I still have not received my Defender from them, or of course, any commitment to send my money back if they dont deliver soon. Supposedly now the engine and the remaining pieces are in their shop in the US. We shall see. I have extended them far too much rope already, and shame on me, but at least the new person they have calling me (the 4th person in their chain of people they have had me communicate with) calls me everyday with an update, which appears to be truthful. Whether she is actually being truthfull, I cant qualify yet, but I should know a lot in a few days. Im hopeful to see pictures of my truck being rebuilt this week. I will give another update middle of next week. Hopefully they will come through.....from a lot of the messages Ive read on this blog, unfortunately it doesnt appear that I should get my hopes up. What I can tell you so far is that it has been over a year now and I dont have anything parked in my garage.

JM

PS - I think it fair to mention that they did just recently offer me a $2,000 discount off of my final payment because of the delay. Which is nice....if, of course, I actually ever get the truck.

Jason, best of luck working though this issue. One would think this 4th person could take a few pictures of your engine and remaining parts and email them to you. We are talking 30 seconds of time with a PDA. Given what you have been through, that is the least of what they could do to help restore any confidence in completing the project.

I think I'd be hammering on his door. Seems he's taken nearly as long to build your truck as it took me to build mine and I was working single handed on the weekend only with occasional "help" from my 18 month old son: mostly consisting of wandering off with the spanner I really needed and a memorable wire brushing of freshly painted panels along with a comment "Daddy, land rover is sticky." Two steps forward, one back.
Maybe they've got lots of little helpers running around the shop?

I agree. Better yet I am sure you could put the word out to members of this and other forums and find someone willing to do some investigating, or under cover recon, or intimidating. Forums such as this are sometimes an individuals best line of defense when long distances are involved, there are always people willing to help, you just have to ask. Sometimes you have to pull on your resources.Topics like this are a businesses best form of advertising or worst enemy depending on how they conduct themselves.

If not already paid in full suggest taking it "as is" at a huge discount. Tell them the trailer will be there tomorrow. There is a vehicle and money involved and you have been inconvenienced by not having either for to long.

Thanks all and believe me, all of those things Ive considered. I surely will go out there to inspect before taking delivery or making any type of final payment. One way or another you can be rest assured I will get my money or the truck. This next week is the last and 100th "benefit of the doubt" time Im giving them. Ive already retained legal staff in the UK, have others that have had a similar experiences who want me to join in a combined suit, and will pursue that option as well as getting my partially completed truck if necessary. Im truly hoping it doesnt come to that....but they have lost any sense of credibility so I have my doubts that they will get things completed. Truthfully I dont think Charles has the money to refund me or he would have done so already....so Im hoping the easiest route will be to get the truck and move on for me. Screwing me might not hurt him in the end since the legal process is long, but me getting on every blog that has anything to do with a Defender and sharing my truthful experiences (its not slander when truthful) would surely cripple his ability to get other people like myself sold.

That and I would show up at his door in the UK for a discussion about my money

Filing suit in Florida for fraud should violate that probation/parole ? I'd drop a dime to his probation officer if he'd ripped me off.
I thought we covered this on our call ?
