A strange Discovery
Here a few photos of a little modification we did a while ago.
We were short of an extra lead vehicle for our guided self drive tours here in Africa. The obvious choice would have been a 110 with a box body just like our others but we needed one quickly and cheap.
At the time prices for local Defenders were astronomic here in Kenya and box body versions like in the UK were not available.
We used to source all our Land Rovers in the UK but, as everyone who has done it knows, the Brits are cunning and everything above 10 years is basically a rust bucket.
On top of it the prices for Defenders in the UK had gone through the roof.
So money and time were against us.
I still had a 1994 two door Disco sitting in the work shop.
Mechanically perfect and hardly any rust.
I bought it in the UK on one of my shopping trips off an old man who decided he wasnt fit to drive anymore.
However one of our clients had a little run in with a bus in Ethiopia and smashed in the rear corner of the body.
So grinder and welding machine come out.
End result was a two door Disco flat bed with box body. Kitchen in the back, slide out fridge and lots of space for food and spare parts.
