97' NAS 90 build.

Barn find Defender 7 months ago. Was found on a FB sale trade 4wd page. Friend sent me the link and I called.
Several days with out a return call I assumed it was a scam. Several more days passed and I received the call. 4 hours later I was staring at a complete NAS 90 sitting under 8 years of garage dust.
The story went it was bought new in California by the father in law. He drove it a whopping 61k miles and made it to nowhere West Virginia. In 2007 A 14 yo son and buddies got to drinking and decided to take it out for the night.
That ended with a defender on its side in a ditch, an off the books rollback ride home and the truck never started after that.
Damage was a busted up drivers door, glass, fender, bumper and the bottom swivel pin.
They never got it to start and never had anyone to look at it. So it sat until the owner gave it to his son and law 5 years ago. Was rollbacked from one garage to another and sat some more.
The day he pulled it from the garage to take pics.

4 hours after the phone call I was in his driveway trailer in tow and cash in hand. After running the numbers and verifying it was truly what he said it was, I paid the guy as fast as I could, spun it a few times by hand, check all the fluids, dropped a hot battery in it and pushed the inertia switch. Lol
She fired up and after the smoke cleared settled in and sounded perfect.
With a floppy wheel I drove her on the trailer and headed north.

Jeez- it was only a matter of time before Rob found some other sources to flog his barn find...

dagone, if only I'd seen an ad, that truck was like an hour and a half away from me!

Next time I visit Ashland, I'm coming over to your place to check out some of your rides.

You need to Jeff. It's quite a bunch of nonsense out here on the hill.
I'm a week from finishing this one up and starting a 300tdi swap for one of the 93' LWB classics.

I'll never openly disclose the purchase price but I've paid more for a D2. LOL.

She's close to being on the road now. When I can sit down long enough I'll post up the full build.
But here's where we are now.
Some interior panels to button up and still undecided on what winch bumper.
Currently have a Husky10 and a Talon 12.5 both in boxes just need something to bolt one down to.
