94 D90 - Chevy 5.7L Vortec

Almost done with my 94 Defender conversion. Thought I would include a couple photos. Lots of little issues but nothing major. Chevy 5.7L Vortec and a dodge transmission. Never hurts to have a little MOPAR.

Too many details to list. I am very lucky to have Doug from OK Tires, in St. Helena, CA, doing the majority of the work. He is the master problem solver.
We had to cut the firewall to fit the larger transmission.
Getting the engine to fit properly so the hood closes and the belt doesn't hit the side of the engine body. You can see the hood rod was moved.
The dash warning lights are each independent and have their own bulbs. To tough to get the electrical conversion to work properly.
Bigger fan for the bigger engine.
The intake had to be tweaked a bit. Started getting a little tight.
I will try and get a list going of everything done. We should have done a better job documenting as we progressed but as you all know there is no manual on how to do this. There was a lot of back tracking.

We are using the Land Rover transfer case. Advanced Adapters for the adapter.
We had to tweak the stick a bit and angle it towards the engine since the transmission and transfer case is back a few extra inches. We didn't want the rear passengers having to shift.

Why did you opt for the 5.7 over a Gen III 5.3/4.8?

Nice! I'd love to see what you did with the intake. If I ever start working on my project again that's one of the things left to tackle. We're almost neighbors. I'm over in Contra Costa Co.
