Any of you Classic guys know what this little wired box is?
In front of the washer bottle beside the charcoal canister...

Also, do the small copper washers from D2 oil drain plugs fit the 300tdi?
I have a bag of them and can't find out till the next oil change...

I'm pretty sure they don't. I think I tried and ended up just using some generic copper washers I found in my tool box.

update: finally broke off the one remaining "HOLD" tab.

Crown14, what is the process for removing/replacing these?
I assume drilling those small rivets comes first.

They are designed to break. Also intended to keep your hands clean/dry instead of forcing you to touch the dirty tailgate.

Remove the #1 Phillips head screws, then drill out the rivets in the retainer strip.

Finally got my parking brake drum problem remedied today.
If you're putting a 300tdi in a Classic you'll need the later style parking brake/cable setup.
Mine originally had the old style cable anchored on the passenger side of the LT230.
This cable is infringed on by the Tdi crossmember.

I pulled the drum and brake mechanism off and found where all the gear oil had been going...
I didnt have any seals....but I did have a spare LT230 that I had changed the rear output bearing and seal in a few years ago before that truck was parted out.

Leaky one on left; hopefully non-leaky one on right.

Oh yeah, the Right Stuff is great.
After it sets up, I can pull these bolts out and use 'em on another project.
Right Stuff is just that good.

Here is the newer style parking brake with the cable that comes out towards the drivers side.
It also just has a rubber type end that sticks through to the handle.

I don't know what year trucks had this style but I'd like another one.

Got to try my new spring retainers last weekend.
Paracord is strong stuff.
