I just used the old flange from my V8 y pipe and welded it to the new tdi pipe.
The rear section has a Flowmaster something(maybe a 40?) and it was still pretty good.
It's pretty quiet little motor......compared to my 7.3!

Take it somewhere and have the flowmaster removed, you don't want any restrictions at all in the exhaust. Any little bit of power you can free up will help make up for the extra that the automatic is using. Just wait till you have the AC hooked up and see what a difference it makes to have it on vs. off leaving a stop light.

Oh and your 7.3 aint shit

Yes the turbo keeps it quiet. The majority of the noise comes from under the hood.

Well, tightened up the bleed screw on the fuel filter housing that was leaking and the bottom heater hose that was leaking...

So...

Well...finally got the shifter support riveted back in place- going to get the console screwed down; hopefully without any new cracks! Then maybe a drive to the end of the driveway...

Then, have to get that darn stock head unit out---what are those little screws??

damn- that's right-its a "pentagon"! lol
I ground down a hex back in the day-I think the last time I pulled a stock head unit was in 2005. Wonder where that little tool is now??

Now, on to more serious matters. I just left Crowther a message-I wasnt near a computer.

Would a blocked PCV cause me to blow smoke and literally drip oil out of my exhaust union??
Because it was...
I unblocked the pcv and the dripping oil stopped and the smoke died down considerably...

Also, my tensioner pulley is HOWLING!

I suppose excess crankcase pressure could force oil by the valve stem seals? Paging Pendy... or Robert, they should know

I think the tensioner itself is different than the serp belt V8 but the pulley is the same?

How's about some links for intercoolers?

I'd rather replace this one with a fresh clean one if it isn't too costly?

I don't feel like cleaning it...

We'll, after less than 5 days of running this truck I though it would be a great idea to pack up the trailer and drive the 2 hours to the Conclave.
At night.
It made it.
But the next day it ran like crap- Uncle Douglas and Robert Davis placed hands on the LWB and determined that it was sucking air somewhere.
A small low pressure inline pump was given to the cause (thanks Jonesy) and ezzzz/ mark spotted the leak at the lift pump fitting.
A new hose clamp was added, air was bled, and she ran good all the way home!

To anyone following this, Jeff did an incredible job for someone doing their first diesel conversion. Everything was done very well and after following him for a couple hours through the mountains and then on the interstate he's got a very cool rig there. Now I want to see him get the a/c and cruise hooked up. The smile as he was behind the wheel playing and blipping the throttle every time we pulled away from a stop was priceless.

That's quite the understatement.

Thanks, guys.

I'm going to tune the exhaust note a little this week.

And fix the shock situation...
