91 Range Rover Classic "Silver Surfer"

Well the journey begins...I could write a book about my experiences with the search for a SWB, and many thanks to many of you for your help with all the ones I looked at. Jonesy, D90Overkill, and a few others...thanks!

Details: 1991 Range Rover SWB, Aspen Silver, Winchester Gray interior
Southern car its entire life until it came to VA.
134K on the Odometer
Interior a 8 out of 10
Small spots of rust on front floors
NO rust on door sills or rear tailgate
All electrics work, windows, lights, radio, seats, ect
Nice gun rack/dog divider in rear
Engine runs great, Tranny may need replacing, yet to be determined

Looking forward to starting this project!

The seats look like they're in good shape. How's the rust in the rear around the fuel pump access hole, rear seatbelt anchors, etc.? What's all over the paint? Moss?

I have more pics, need to upload...load space floor looks new, seatbelt anchors show no rust. It was parked under a tree, luckily the paint didn't suffer.

No telling about rims, the running boards are stock but are deteriorating, I plan to take them off soon. The Land Rover lettering isn't original, looks like more modern raised lettering, so if PO was going for newer look at some point, the rims and lettering make sense.

Congrats on finding one. It looks like a good start. also interested in price point as these seem to be appreciating, for good ones anyway. Is it a repaint? I am curious since you said the lettering was more modern. I think the SWB's are finding a new audience since the LWB's are bit outsized and not as aesthetically pleasing as the SWB - closer to the original 2 door.

Matt,

Give me a shout if you want to get it up on the lift and go over the underside. The top side is looking good

So on the value...my insurance company is USAA who I freakin loath...anyway, they value my 94 at 2K so be careful what you put into it...stated value isn't a reality...

From what i have understand USAA does not do "agreed value", leaving your car underinsured. While they are great ( I use them for modern cars) that means we have to find another company that will do an agreed value on our cars. I heard Allstate is decent to work with.
