My plan was to mount the plinths for the tail lamps. But in order to do that....I had to remount the rear SD ladder...so I could mount the tail lamp guards. The SD ladders already had the previous mounting holes drilled. I simply mounted it up. The driver's side rear lamp guards then abut the lower ladder mount. By marking, drilling and mounting those, life was made much easier for mounting the new plinths. I used a level to make sure the lamp screws were in line, so as to keep them uniform across the back.

So far, so good! Now just need the correct hole saw to fit the lamps through the body. Hopefully I have corrected enough for the known problem with the '94 cage supports. We'll see....

Also installed new bulkhead air vent pins and connected the handles.

I've been away at the beach this past week with my family. And a glorious time it was! When we arrived back home last night, I had a nice parcel waiting on my porch from our friends at Rovers North. Many thanks Les!

Update: Set to work reinstalling the doors last night. First, installed new door seals all around. We purchased full SW door seals so I used the excess on the rear tailgate. Next, I installed the freshly painted door hinges. I haven't seen many of this type of hinge painted (most leave them black), so we'll see how they hold up. Also installed the rearview mirrors.

Then I set to work lining up the doors. This included installing the door handles. They had a bit of surface rust on them, so I hit them with some black paint before installing to make them look a little better. Once the doors were lined up, I installed the door stops with new bolts. Then I set to work reconnecting the speakers and reattaching the door cards. They are the original cards, and a little worn, but they cleaned up pretty well. I did get a set of new door pulls (handles) since the originals had gone missing. You never realize how much you miss these until they are gone!

All of that and voila', doors!

P.S.- Still have to install the lower door seals.

No real progress to report. Just been busy with other obligations these past couple of weeks.

That being said, she has seen the light of day. I let her stretch her legs a couple of times around the block this afternoon and then left her to idle in the driveway for a bit. Just wanted to keep the battery charged and fluids circulating. You know how these trucks hate sitting!

Funny thing is, last time I drove her, she was leaking like a sieve from the front of the motor. And today not a drop! That's a Rover for you.....

Had a little time this evening, so I set to cutting the holes for the rear lights. Only had enough time and battery on the cordless drill to get the passenger side done. I'll have to finish the other side up tomorrow. Then on to wiring them!

Also, installed the brand new half tonneau cover we acquired from RDS a few weeks ago.

Getting there, slowly but surely.

Update: Let there be light....

Worked on finishing out the holes for the rear lamps. Then moved on to cutting in the holes for the front side marker lamps. With those mounted, I was able to start on the wiring for the front lights. Having the front headlamp already out gave easy access to the wiring. While I was at it, I went ahead and wired in a new horn, as the old one was missing.

I also went ahead and did the turn signal conversion using a Series rear brake light in place of the lower front marker lamp. It will now stay lit when the marker lamps are on and flash brighter when the turn signal is used. Also installed new bezels from RN and tossed the old cracked ones.

She's starting to look road worthy once more!

Update: Brothers & Wrenching

My family unexpectedly suffered the loss of my oldest brother, Robert, this past weekend. And in our time of sorrow, we've come to truly know just how much he was loved and will be missed by his family and his friends.

As unfortunate as the circumstances have been surrounding Robert's passing, I was glad to see my brother Matt, as he came home to pay his respects and visit with our family, even if only briefly. Not having seen each other face to face in 6+ months, we did what I imagine many of us would do under the circumstances, and spent some time working and chatting together in the garage.

I was very glad for him to see, in person, the progress which I'd made on his 90 since he left it with me back in the spring (he's been following this thread just as many of you have). And I was more than appreciative to have his help in reinstalling the roll cage, which I'd been putting off for a little while . It took a little more torquing and adjusting to get it refitted than I think either of us anticipated when we started on it this afternoon, but we got it done, and with enough time leftover for dinner at our folk's house before taking him back to the airport.

As nice as it was to see fewer rover parts sitting on the floor of my garage, it was even nicer to see my brother. Matt, hope you have a safe flight and I'll look to have her finished and sorted before your next visit home!

Thanks Scott. We appreciate it.

And well, as for URE....I'm not saying "yes"..... (.....but I'm not saying "no" either).
