At least now it doesn't look like it was used to wrap up a grimy Borg Warner transfer case. Sometime during the ride from dfw a lot of gear oil got on it. Power wash, scrub with simple green and finish with mineral spirits. Thanks Rover for using top quality mohair and not polypropylene.

Bill,

The former Roverville folks can make the stereo new again, even add an aux input. John there is terrific. They've re-branded and are now at http://www.gb4x4radios.com/usa/. I highly recommend them.

Besides all the new A/C lines, was there anything else in the box? I really didn't dig around in it much. Saw the stereo headset and surround there, but didn't look much further.

Glad the carpets cleaned up well, but really doesn't surprise me a lot. When I stopped at the car wash and vacuumed out the compartment where my co-pilot and I would reside for several days, the transformation was amazing. Was gross prior to that.

Ron

Hey, did you see that in the Vendor's loft, they just listed that they are parting out a 93 RRC LWB and have some good stuff left? You might see if Stephen has anything you still need. Tell him I sent you.

Stereo is at the nadir of my attention.
Box had mostly used parts that were taken off when new ones were put on. There's a trans filter, couple tubes of one shot grese....not much really.

Got underneath this afternoon. Add to the list engine mounts, brake cable, exhaust stud, remove e-sender on transfer case...jeez it's so darn nice under there, except for the mud all over everything.

Do you have ramps? Really helps when pressure washing "greasy side". I use two sets to get it raised significantly when doing this chore. The broken exhaust stud - was this at the head or y-pipe?

Ok finally I hope have the "new" center console glued up. Lots of cutting and fitting wee bits of plastic to reenforce the broken and cracked places. I wish I could show pics but it's just too many places; it would look like a cubist painting.
Glued in a relay holder from another console.
Did more demolition inside the truck trying to get old dash out and front carpet so I can fix the footwell rust and get the rug cleaned. Some Motorola madness stuffed in there from the days when cell phones were the size of a shoe box. Black box and a speaker(!) stuffed under drivers seat. Wires going everywhere! Easy $10 in copper scrap.

Eh, here are the console pix. Enjoy. These bits really are glued in good. Used same plastic as console.

The secret to getting good adhesion is to sand the mating surfaces of the plastic with 60-80 grit paper.

So, now you're screwing with the ambiance! Did you get a functional Speedo yet?

Gonna try to do the memory seat ECU repair. Gotta love Amazon.com. The Varta battery and the ULN2003 ic chips are both on there.

Have you already pulled the box out?
How does the board look?

Will do that tonight. Yesterday's rain shortened my work day quite a lot. Since it does have some functionality, I'm hoping for the best.
Mirrors are not working and the seat reclines and the front goes up/down. Dassit.

In the half dozen I've done, the point of no return is usually when you move the seat and the mirror moves instead- or vice versa.
Sometimes when you replace the battery and hook the box back up, it won't work immediately. This battery is used commonly in pinball machines and other arcade equipment and a guy who repairs that stuff once told me to hook it up and leave it alone for at least an hour. That gives the new battery a chance to "charge" first.

It's a pain getting the seat ECU out because, of course, the seat is usually inoperable...

I'd wait on ordering a battery until you see the condition; my board traces were shot (it belongs in the Hall of Shame).
