1994 RRC LWB 300Tdi

Bought this truck a couple of months ago on fleabay. It's rough around the edges so I'll be cleaning it up and making it the way I want it. Not sure exactly what the plan is yet, but it should be a fun project. The goal is to make it nice enough for the wife to drive... It runs great despite the cosmetic issues, and so far it's a great second Rover.

Like I said, it's rough around the edges! It came from Portland, OR from a fellow named Clay. Don't be alarmed, I have the proper TDI radiator/intercooler ready to go in, and I scored the rad support panel from the recent RRC parts liquidation here on the board.

Managed to score a complete interior in sable brown from a local buddy who parts and sells discos and RRCs. This is apparently a rare color that was only in 200 trucks in the US, but I don't know my RRC facts very well. Includes seats, door cards, and carpets. I'll be working on getting this in soon, but want to take my time and clean up the floor pans before putting it all in.

Anyone know why I can't post multiple pictures in one post from my phone?

It's a safety feature on this site - no more driving and posting Rover pics!

Yep, that is a good looking set of seats.

Most likely, the prev owner pulled the drivers seat when the seat memory ecu failed, leaving it inoperable.
You can put in a plain RRC seat switch to bypass the ecu but you will lose mirror function.

Lol Raub! My mirrors don't work right now so pretty sure the ecu isn't even there. The passenger seat doesn't move either, do they both tie into the ecu? Or does the passenger seat just need a new switch?

Pass seat is stand alone.

The drivers seat had the memory 1 & 2 positions and it controlled the rear view mirrors as well.

When I got the truck it was making an annoying squeal. Thought it was the belt tensioner so I replaced that, but it turned out to be the belt itself. Spill return hose was also leaking and making a mess, so replaced that too.

Yeah I had my ECU licked. (For a while) now seat no move, but you CAN adjust the mirrors from either mirror switch or seat switch!

You will enjoy that TDI in the classic, BTW!

Awesome truck! Love it!

Since it is less than 25 years old, I assume you can't register it?

Nope, it's a US truck that's been converted, so no problems. Besides that, I live in Arkansas... you could register a donkey cart here!

410 miles, not bad for one tank of diesel in a LWB I think!

Installed new oil cooler lines out of necessity since the wife's car is in the shop and she needed to drive the LWB. Old lines were leaking a lot of oil and making a mess. Between the ridiculous drivers seat and the pedals being offset to the left, she wasn't impressed. I guess it's time to get the seats installed..

Getting ready to pull the engine to do the clutch (suspect the fork has failed), but the clearance between the back of the engine and the firewall is extremely tight. I'm thinking I'm going to have to lift the front of the engine, remove the mounts and then drop it down just to get access to the nuts on the bellhousing. Looking for advice from anyone with a 300TDI Disco 1 or RRC on the best way to do this. Thanks!
