The plaques are in! They look great! The driving Hellas are on the way from the UK as we speak!

Thanks for the info!

------ Follow up post added May 15th, 2014 11:01 PM ------

Finally got my driving lights(Hella 1000's) and started assembling the lights on the top. Gotta get a pop rivet gun and drill down to the shop, so I can mount the signs. But this will do for now. More pictures soon.

So, I took the warn lights, that were mated up top on the roof rack by the previous owner, and temporarily put them on the bumper. They are different than the original hella (550?), but will give me an idea of what it should look like.

Closer look of the install.

I found the original wires for the fog lamps on the bumper.

Starting to mock up one of the 3 sand ladders I have to the damaged side of the rack. The threaded studs are damaged, but I'll rig something up soon.

After a little spin in the colorado country side.

What a bunch of nonsense.

Who the hell in their right mind would lay off a Big G's sandwich?

This is just me, but I would never do anything to that truck except normal maintenance. All the bashes and dents are part of the vehicle history and removing or repairing them would to my mind diminish the value. Do what you have to to get it driving and running. Add period correct accessories to get it close to the way it was at birth and just run it.

I agree!
Speaking of period correct stuff, I just received my hella 550 set, with harness, for 50$. Time for the wiring fun!

Love those 550s. I'm going to put a set on my 110 as soon as I get the bumper back on.

So, after a long battle today(basically.... wiring, wiring, wiring, plaques, and 2 h3 bulbs being dead) it is done! It looks more like a camel vehicle now! Please note the roof rack is bent a little, so the plaque is actually not slightly crooked.

Basically, there are two power wires that go to the roof rack lights(hella 1000's). One wire splits 2 ways for each driving light, and the other wire splits 2 ways for each fog. One set of lights were working and the other were not. After some investigation, I found my way to the fault. It was in a nest of custom wiring and factory harnesses. Basically, someone had modified it at some point in time after the race. Each set of lights have a relay and someone rigged up the switch only to one relay, instead of two. A splice here and there. Bam. Lights.

So a camel trophy owners club member sent me these photos. Thought I would share them! Verified my export plates to the camel trophy owners info about my disco!

Well ladies and gents, my run with this truck may have probably come to an end. Between snowboarding, working on cars, and doing a lot of heavy lifting for work, this past winter, I somehow screwed up my lower back/spine/nerves. I cannot lift heavy things, including wrenching on my own cars for a good while. I might have to get surgery/lots physical therapy and this is going to cost me an arm and a leg to afford. Not to mention, i am going to school for engineering soon. So, to be on the safe side, I am going to sell the camel trophy. I don't want to sell it. But I have to, just for my health and financial safety.

A LOT of people have come out of the woodwork and made me offers, since the beginning....So, I have an idea of what it is worth. But, I want everyone to have a chance to bid on owning it and not feel like I left them out/sold it out from under them. So I will be posting it on ebay. I will have a reserve set close to the highest I've been (Privately) offered. If you are looking for a used off-road vehicle for super cheap, I would not recommend this one. But I wish you could have a good truck like this for cheap. I can find you a cheap good disco, if that is the case. (I am pretty good at it).

Yes it is damaged and will need work. But everything works(except the windshield wipers due to a broken switch handle) and it has very low(but brutal) miles but everything seems to be in great working order/maintenanced. Not to mention, it is the Only Team USA winning disco/vehicle AND is a Camel Trophy that is located IN the United States.

Thanks for giving me information and opinions on this vehicle. Also, selling me the hard to find parts. It has been much appreciated and I will not forget the history I dragged out of the desert.

might be wise to do two things:
1. Put it in the For Sale section
2. Take as many pix as possible of it - NOW - i.e. what you have done to it.

BUT if you don't want to post a price - put it on eBay

Thanks for the info.

I have been offered a pretty good amount and feel safer through ebay.

Not to mention, reaching a bigger demographic.

I am going to take my nice camera and take all the pictures, just if someone has questions later in life.
