1989 LHD/LS3/PUMA Conversion

I bought this truck right before Thanksgiving with the intention of just driving it. Unfortunately that didn't last long. It had a small exhaust leak and while I was working on that I had this great idea of rebuilding the whole thing! The idea also came to mind after seeing all the amazing rebuilds that were done on this forum. This forum has been a tremendous wealth of information & knowledge. I have already met some great people who have guided and helped me greatly and I'm sure I will meet a lot more. I am posting this a little after I started but will try post what has been done so far.

Heading down to South of The Border

I left my house on Monday January 4th at 6:30pm and drove to South of the Border to meet Mark Staff. I ended up buying NTO doors for the front & middle. New rear door, Puma hood, wings, calipers, rotors, complete stainless exhaust, sunroof, rear sliding windows, springs, shocks, anti sway bar, extended radiator grill plus too much stuff to list. I arrived at the hotel around 3:30am. I tried getting some sleep but it was like being a kid trying to sleep on Christmas Eve!!! Mark was an absolute pleasure to deal with and met me at 7:30am. He had everything packaged professionally and helped me load my truck to capacity. We packed the exhaust in Thule above and everything else inside. I don't think we could squeeze anything else in. These are some of the items unpacked, I'll post more when I unwrap the rest.

A little more work and "The Exhaust"

I'm hoping it will now sound like a mini LS3 instead of a 4 cylinder Toyota!

And some more progress

I was able to get a little more done last week and also had to make some room for a delivery from my new friend and colleague Chris Eyhorn. Chris is currently rebuilding his dream 110 with a puma dash/bulkhead & a bad ass LS3. I ended up buying his Exmoor G4 seats & cubby. I also bought his bulkhead/dash with factory AC. In addition, his 3.5 engine, Lt77 tranny, tunnel & seat box.

Today's delivery

I ended up shipping 5 pallets from Austin, TX to Long Island with Fastenal. It took exactly a week. These are some pics from today, I'll post more as everything uncrated.

Extreme case of shifters disease. Good luck looks like you are getting stuck in. Hope it turns out great.

A little damage and help needed

This part cracked during shipping, does anyone have a replacement they would like to sell or know where I can get on?

Ski season in the Northeast is coming to an end so it's time to get back to work!

Blasting complete and back home, galvanizing on Tuesday. It's nice not having grease and grime all over the place for a change. Now ready for the talk!

Axles

Finally got around to priming and painting the axles today. I had them all sand blasted and prepped before priming. I used Eastwood 2X Aero-Spray Epoxy Primer, based on a recomendation from my auto body shop. It was great and easy to use.
