Looks much better underneath cleaned up. I will be swapping out the old pin-style rear shock mounts for later model ones. And patching some floors. Trying to clean the scum off the interior now.

Joel, just in case you are still interested....here are the pics of the grey interior!
The door cards are later model ones (from a 91)...but you can source the plastic bits and wood inserts or make your own! Either way they come with the interior!

Luis thanks for pics of the interior, I will keep it in mind. I am thinking that I really don't want to have to convert to the 89-up type door panels if I don't have too. I began the huge job of cleaning up the interior but have a long way to go. I think the rear seats and for the most part the door panels are salvageable. I will definitely need new front seats and floor covering (vinyl not carpet in these). I have new (used) wood for the front door panels on the way.

The quick answer is NO this truck will not be getting restored like that 90 did... but somehow the beater RRC that I was going to just get running and use around the shop now looks like this...

First I was just curious how the paint would look with a quick compound/polish/wax. The results were pretty impressive so I decided to do the back corners and tailgate. (I will do the rest eventually) Before long, I was raiding my secret parts stash and replacing the tailgate LIFT tabs, plate lamps, etc. Even cleaned up a complete rear bumper and stuck it on there, although I am not sure that I like the chrome over the black.

Swamp ass....that funny s#!@! When you are done are you going to rename it?

Those wheel spacers are really noticeable.....do you think you'll rub the fenders?

Well I didn't name it in the first place. And the wheel spacers are really on so these old dry rotted tires wont rub the radius arms, the fenders aren't even close to touching the tires.

Nice truck, I need to come over and use that rivet gun. I know where another red 88 lives.

That thing really has cleaned up well Joel. It's amazing how the paint shined up.

I only "corrected" a small area and for once I am really excited to do the rest. I am sure that I will lose that excitement quickly once I actually start buffing it out, section by section. By the time I am done with the compound and polish I will probably be too lazy to wax it by hand and just take it to the pay n spray and put $10 of spray wax on it.

I promised myself I would take it slowly on this project, after all it isn't going anywhere, but this day has seen lots of parts delivered...

new column trim screws
new sill plate screws
new tailgate spring bushings and clips
new A pillar trim clips
new dome lenses
new underhood lamp assembly

AND I acquired a parts truck today that may donate some decent tires and a set of shocks to the RRC...

Been stalled for a bit, thanks for reminding me that I'm working too much and not goofing off enough.

Damn its been a while, I took out my interior last weekend and dried it out from cleaning the Uwharrie out from under it. Those sill plate screws look nice.

I need to get the rear floor panel reinstalled. The panel is all cleaned up, and corrosion I found was sanded out (its aluminum on the '88 and there wasn't much at all) then spot primed/painted and the top sprayed with bed liner and the bottom undercoating. Now I am scraping the old seam sealer off the truck and drilling out all the old rivet holes.
