1987 130 Project

Came across a 1987 130 located in the Netherlands on Ebay.UK. Given that I already have a 110 being built up at RiverHouse in the Netherlands, I decided to double down as the price was right. It turns out that it belongs to a friend of Michael at RiverHouse and he had driven it.

It's definitely rough but decent bones. Given that it's a 1987, this will be at least a nine month project. Leaning towards leaving it as a pickup over converting it to a SW. Comes with canopy frame and canopy. I've seen some very interesting 130's online and plenty of time to decide.

Obviously needs some bulkhead work. Probably going to leave it RHD. V8 and LPG likely gone in favor of a 300TDI with R380. New suspension (heavy duty OME) and brakes. New bumper with winch. Definitely sanding off the acrylic paint job.

The ultimate result is still up in the air. Something fully offroad capable.

Should be fun.....

This from a guy on the Main Line!!! LOL. Know the Janney's by any chance?

If you have your own business, you can deduct 100% of the cost this year!! At least that's how I am rationalizing all this. My clients will love being visited in classic Rovers.

I should have put a but it seems that you got the idea.

I do not know the Janneys, but I spend most of my time at work in another state as opposed to hanging out at the cricket club or merion.

So 8 months later, the 130 is now at RiverHouse. In the interim, it has been converted to LHD, bulkhead has been repaired, chassis wings have been repaired, new brakes, and new rear doors.

Now for the real fun. First, rust extermination. New front doors, sills to be repaired, footwells to be replaced, diamond plate in load area to be ripped up and bed repaired and lined. Once rust is gone, stripped interior and exterior and reprinted.

Up in the air. I am looking at leaving the existing 3.5L V8 in as it had been replaced about 30,000 miles ago. Plenty of other stuff to do.
