110 "I told you so" Edition

Just like my 90, I'm going to redo my 110 for a second time. Fixing many of the things I was advised to do the first time, Galvanized frame being the biggest thing.

Frame was ordered a couple of weeks ago from Richards, 200tdi with TD5 fuel tank setup.

R380 stumpy and LT230 ordered from Ashcroft

R380 with higher 5th gear, heavy duty rear bearing

Lt230 1.4 with sleeved casing

Rebuilding a 200tdi with a polished head from turner and possibly a VNT turbo.

I know people will say forget the 200, but I'm committed, I have a spare motor and 2 spare heads.

I'm also kicking around the idea of getting 4 SP doors, galvanized frames and skins.

I am struggling with having my existing bulkhead dipped or getting a new "galvanized" one. I put galvanized in quotes because my understanding is the new bulkheads are not hot dipped galvanized. My bulkhead is good, so do I just galvanize it and reuse, or galvanize and sell it to recoup some funds for the new one, or just buy a new one and use the old hot dipped one on a project?

I can't see spending $4k for an electro plate bulkhead when you can hit dip the one you have. Unless you want to paint, I would just dip.

A thing (or two) of beauty! Christmas in October!

Just to be nosey, how much did you spend for the R380 and LT230 including delivery?

nice Ridgeback... aren't they great dogs!

Picking ours up Tuesday from the breeder. (sorry, thread hijack)

Ashcroft is fantastic. When I did the R380 upgrade in my 90 I ordered from them and it was here in 3 days. Great service, they really know their stuff.

Are they still called Rhodesian, or has that too been deemed insensitive?

As for doors, these are gaining traction in Europe:

Shop - A. M. A. Services

No affiliation with em, just thought it an interesting concept.

I guess Zimbabweian ridgeback doesn't sound the same.
I've told a thousand people over the years what breed they were, and no one ever really knew what the the hell Rhodesia was.

I'm gonna check the doors out, but the fiberglass makes me a bit nervous.

From what I gather, the AMA ones are some sort of space age polymer. Or something like that. I think there is a video of them ball batting one with no ill effects.

fiberglass and probably stronger than the metal doors and will never rust. There were a few here eager to try a set a coupe years ago but not sure it ever happened.
