Andy, you definitely can go with that carb, I know others have. Emissions what's that Mine is listed as exempt from emissions don't know why but it is. Not going to complain though.

Doug,

So the LT230 won't work without changing floor pans? Crap I may have to go with a Borg T-box then with the auto.

4.2L Swap?

Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone will see this soon. I'm in the position to purchase a 4.2L with 80k miles within the next 2 hours (whole truck for cheap). Will a 4.2L out of a RRC work as a swap just as the 3.9L into my 110 with a LT95 tranny?

Thanks again!

Andy

It will work just fine, no different than doing a 3.9, honestly they are one of my favorite rover V8s

Andy

Andy, did you get the truck?
I'm assuming its a LWB since its a 4.2...unless it has been swapped over.
I wish you were closer; I'd love a LWB without a motor for a project....

New Donor Rover

Well, I guess I'm going with a 4.2L swap. Found a donor vehicle close to home yesterday and already puting it to work. Now I just need to tear it down quick to get it out of the already crowded driveway. I still can't believe that I've purchased three rovers in the past three weeks. I'm done! I'll try to post progress reports with pictures etc.. of the swap. I need to finish the front axle rebuild first since the new parts arrived. Bill, Jeff, thanks again for the help yesterday. Jeff, I wish you lived closer too, because I'd love to get the RRC out of my drive.

Congrats and didn't you read the memo that Land Rovers once allowed entry multiply like rabbits?

Resurrecting this thread from last year as I am now in the middle of doing the engine swap.

Where in the harness is this white plug that Shayne is referring to? Up until today, I had mistakenly assumed it was the 5-pin Lucas diagnostic connector that is part of the main harness. Can someone please post a picture of it and its location, whether it's in the engine bay or the cabin?

On the RRC 3.5 efi it is located on the main efi harness in the passenger footwell right before it enters the bulkhead.

I think the second one he refers to goes to the gauge cluster.

Ok, I am now suspecting that the engine I have, which was supposed to have been out of a '94 NAS D90, is in fact out of an 1990/91 RRC. Reason being, is the wiring harness color codes, and various plugs, match up to a wiring diagram for an RRC, and not a D90.

What I always suspected to have been the power plug I am looking, happens to be in the same position on the wiring harness, as in your picture. It is shaped differently, more like the typical Lucas diagnostic plug of a 14CUX, but the wires (there are 5) their color, and gauge, is more consistent with a power plug, especially the Brown wire which happens to be the thickest.

I suspect that the diagnostic plug on that engine is a different white one (with a mating plug). It only has 3 wires, and they are a lot smaller, more consistent with data, carrying lower current.

The color codes as best I can tell on that one are as follows:

1 - Two Black/Grey going to the same pin
2 - White/Green
3 - White/Tan

What do you think?

Here are a couple of pictures of what I think is the power plug. This one happens to be black in color.

Best I can tell, the color codes are as follows:

1 - White/Purple
2 - Brown
3 - White - Red
4 - Yellow
5 - Black

Yes, it does look exactly like the Lucas Data Diagnostics plug.

Here are pictures of what I think is the actual Diagnostic Plug, and this one has a mating connector though.

What's the consensus?
