"Thanks" feature

I am a recent member of www.jaguarforums.com and it has a "thanks" feature which is really neat.

If possible we should add it here.

Is this similar to a "Like" on Facebook?
For good advice or something?
If so, there should be a "no thanks" also, if it's bad advice, just like there should be a "Dislike" on Facebook.

While we're at it... in-line images would be awesome. They make for way better project and trip write-ups. But hey - the site is free and I say its pretty awesome already.

Another forum had a praise/smite feature.
Got misused and was removed
Not necessary

Click on the thanks button in a post. There's an option to send a private (brief) note to the poster - add you rmessage or just hit send with no note. Messages are private and regardless of a message or not, it's a nice way to let someone know you appreciate the post.

You can view any thanks you have received in your user cp and configure your account to receive notices of of thanks comments (or not) as well.

It'd be nice if it had a Facebook-esque feature where the "thanks" were tallied on the post itself to let others know that the post is beneficial to the thread.

Can we do a "whack" feature too? Like if Pedro says something dumb you can click on a hammer or a wrench and it sends a virtual "Hey, you're a dumbass" message to them?

I think a simple thumbs-up/down feature would have been good.

Sorry, I didn't want to call you out in the post. Maybe we can have a "Hey, better luck next time" button, or a "When you're old enough you can sit at the grownups table" button.

Janet,

I may have skipped a step somewhere.

I only see the Thanks on my posts.

You can only read thanks comments given to your posts but you can leave thanks for any post you want. The author of the thanked post can read the comments - no one else.

I too do not see a button to "thanks" someone on any post..

I have the button on my posts and apparently I have 10 thanks already, but I don't want to thanks myself.
