Paypal payments

I think members should be made aware of the fact that when purchasing from the classifieds sections or anywhere else on the internet for that matter using Paypal specifically paying with "friends & family" option there are no options or recourse for the purchaser if there is an issue with the item! In this case the purchase cannot be disputed with paypal and the purchaser is out of luck!

If you use the "friends & family" option you pay 3.5% service fee. If you pay for "goods or services" and add 3.5% you are covered. Either way you pay the same amount.

IME the F&F generated no fees on either end.

Correct. F&F is no fees and no protection, unless using a CC. Goods payment is (2.9% plus $0.30) fee and protection. Fee is charged to the seller (receiver of funds).

Sending money – Personal payments:
It's free within the U.S. to send money to family and friends when you use only your PayPal balance or bank account, or a combination of their PayPal balance and bank account.

Goods and services – Purchase payments:
There’s no fee to use PayPal to purchase goods or services. However, if you receive money for goods or services (such as from selling an item on eBay), the fee for each transaction is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive.

I use a CC so there is a fee. Either way it is insurance.

The CC fee is to the CC company. CC companies charge everyone a fee. It goes to the seller and in this case PP is passing it on to you, otherwise they would lose money.

Never send as a "Gift" for internet purchases. You're screwed if you have an issue.

I've disputed and won a F&F payment earlier this year. You can dispute as an unauthorized charge.
