help viewing this site

Odd question - did not know where to post it, but here goes:

Until yesterday sometime, I was able to view this site on my computer no problem, read forums, view links, post, etc.....now everytime I try to get to the site, I get a message that the site is not accessible.

BTW - typing this message on another computer right now

I have turned off my firewall, thinking that was the problem, but no luck....every other site I want to access is no problem???

Any ideas???

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Lets see if we can fix you up. If you can, let me know some more details:
- Is this a work or home computer?
- Is the computer you made your post from in the same office/home as the problem computer?
- Do you see this problem with trying to access the entire site? Meaning is you go to www.d-90.com, the sites primary page, do you get the message or does it load?

Let me know and we'll take it from there.

Thanks,

BTW, I am moving this to the HELP section

Chris,

After I posted, I remembered there was a help section, sorry.

Work PC, but it is not on a network, stand alone setup just like a home pc.

Problem PC is in my office, posting from my home pc.

Can not load any pages from d-90.com, even the home page - but like I said, every other website I try to access is no problem.

Thanks for the help.

Mark

Do you mean, from a PC at work but not "logged on" to your network? If you're connected to the Internet at work with this PC, then you're still on their network, probably just not logged on to a domain. Which tells me you're still behind your work firewall.

Can you try other PCs in the office and see if you can access the site from there?

Hmm.. right off the bat I would take a stab and say there may be a DNS issue with the satellite internet provider, meaning since you access the internet through them, somewhere either with them or inbetween them and the sites host, some DNS entrys may have been dropped. This usally can resolve itself within 4 days but can take longer depending on the segment. But like I said, that would be my guess higher on my list of possibles.

Expanding on Glens point a bit... Do any other PCs in your office connect to the internet with that same satellite provider? Can the problem be reproduced on those PCs if so?

Thanks,

CVC

You could also try using the ip address directly. CvC that gonna work? You got it handy? That would prove the DNS issue I think.

Unfortanatly, I dont know what the direct IP address is. I know the server IP address but that only takes you to the hosts page, not the sub-account the site is server from.

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Ok, here is something wierd....posting from work now

I could not get my book marked pages for d-90 to load, and when I typed th address in manually it would not load, always the same error message as above.

I deceided to search for "d-90.com" on MSN

I clicked on the search results and the page was there instantly.

I went back and clicked on the same bookmarked page that did not work 1 minute ago, and now it works. No idea what happened - will blame it on Microsoft issues I guess.

thanks for trying everyone.

Mark

Hmm.. thats an odd one. I am wondering if your local internet temp files were to blame. But if its working now, great! If you see it happen again, clear all your internet temporary files, restart and see if that helps.

Please let me know if you start seeing it happen again.
