Question alarm keeps going off

hello everyone.

recently, we bought a defender 110 and are quite happy with it.

the only thing is, that the alarm keeps going off whenever we locked the car and try to open it again. in the user manual it says, that the small red light by the wheel should be blinking when the alarm is armed and, after pressing the button on the key, should stop blinking and turn the alarm off. well, we tried that. the light never once stopped blinking, and no matter how hard or often you klick on the key's button, the alarm goes off as soon as you open a door. very embarassing when on a full parking space.

plus, yesterday we did not find the key so we took the spare one the vender gave us. as soon as inserted into the ignition, the alarm went off again.

any ideas? i already contacted the vendor, but since he is not an expert with land rovers, i thought somebody might know an answer here.

thanks a lot in advance!!

While most of the Defender knowledge here is based on US Defenders I'm guessing your truck is somewhat newer than the oldest US Defender built in 1997.
If the Alarm is after market guessing it could be badly installed and should be removed.
You may want to post this question on a UK based forum.

A couple of questions in order to try and help you.

What year is your defender ?
Is it the factory alarm or aftermarket install ?
Are you arming the alarm with the remote fob or by locking the drivers door with the key ?
Is the truck left or right hand drive ?

And key fob or chipped key?

Both my trucks are running 96 and later harnesses with alarms/immobilizers and most often the problem is from the key fob side - replaced battery or cleaned up battery connections and the problem goes away.

Aldo have reset instructions as well as bypass instructions available if needed.

What color is the truck? Do you have any pictures of your new Defender?

I get the impression it is what bluett said, the two button fob with stock late 300tdi/td5 alarm. First and easiest is to replace the battery in it
