Wolf Fabrication Roof Racks - Update

Just wanted to share some pics of our latest roof rack build. Wolf racks are completely custom and built to customer specs. This particular customer wanted the rack open in front for a tent and wanted provisions for Thule accessories, flooring, as well as Hi-Lift mounts.

Custom racks continue to be $1600 in rattle can paint, or $2k powder coated.

Looks good

Two things:
1. Dont offer a rattle can version. Sells you short
2. Not sure how I feel about using the mantec tire carrier as the load point. Seems not as strong a point as in the corner on a ST tire carrier like you have done. Just a thought

1. Nearly 90% of my customers don't want powder coating, I just do what they want.
2. I agree, but this customer in particular wanted no holes in the body. Believe it or not, the actual weight load at that point is minimal - roughly 20%.

All great points, but like I said, everything I do is custom work, so no "cookie cutter" stuff.

What are you using for the flooring? Any guess on the weight for a 110 rack? And what would the price increase be? Thanks

I use chicken coop flooring from FarmTek. A 110 rack is not too much more expensive. My racks are heavy and as much as I lobby my customers to use smaller and lighter materials they still want the HD stuff. A typical rack is in the 300lbs range!

Jonathon- is that the overlapping farmtec flooring that you used?

And how much do I need to order for the rack you made for me? I need something up there to help me place smaller items, gas cans, bags, etc.
Nice update on the rack. I am keeping my, its to useful even without the roof tent!

Yep, that's the stuff! You would need 6 - 2'x4' sections. A circular saw with pretty much any blade cuts the stuff well.

If you plan on ordering from FarmTek, shoot me an email or PM and I'll give you a 10% coupon.

Jonathan ... What lighter weight options do you offer? Full disclosure - Not sure I'm ready to buy a rack but it's on my wish list!

I can switch to lighter materials or smaller diameter tube, but that will make it weaker. I build my racks to lean on trees and support the truck, anything less will bend. If you are not concerned with it being heavy duty, I have a ton of options.

Jonathon what are you using to secure the flooring. I don't see anything that looks like a clamp. I know some guys use HD zipties.

Zip ties, and lots of them. Don't need to be HD.

Wow, looks great. I am interested in the lighter weight options, as I don't intend to carry anything too heavy- maybe a few surfboards or a mountain bike. Would a lightweight option have a lower price?

A lighter one wouldn't be much cheaper as the same about of bending and welding would occur (for the most part). The material cost is also the same. I sell of ton of just cross bars for guys just looking to mount Thule/Yakima stuff, and kayaks and canoes.
