Waxoyl in Atlanta

Hi All,
We have been crazy slammed for a while but thought we would try to get involve here again!

We have now teamed up with Rovers North and we are offering Waxoyl services in Atlanta. Retail for an average Rover is about $750 for a 88/90 and $950 for a 109/110.

As an introductory special we will discount either service by 30% for D-90 source members until July 1 2012. (You just need to be scheduled by then....we can do it anytime )

Thanks
David

Wow that seems cheap! Does that include shale removal and cleaning, etc. beforehand?

Thanks to rijosh the price has now gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up!

I really want to charge more but we gotta stay pretty consistent on prices. The above prices will include thorough pressure washing and scraping as needed. We will wire brush surface rust and hit it with epoxy primer then Waxoyl oil and Waxoyl hardwax on top of that.

Obviously, if there is severe rust that requires more work we will need to charge for that. We can look it over and give you a good idea prior to starting.

Haha it's probably less brushing down there where there's not much snow aka not much salt on the roads aka not much rust. Up here I think it's almost $1k more through Robison once you take into account the prep work!

Again, I'm jealous.

I got a quote from Taylor Cogleton awhile back and it wasn't that pricey (not another $1k+)...prices were closer to David's, which seem very fair.

Prices in snow land are higher. Until now all of the Waxoyl center were in the North East so they sort of set the standard prices up there.
Thanks Jason!

Matt,

Next time you are around Route 17 let me know and you can look at my truck. I am extremely pleased with the results. RN gave me a bunch of tips. It takes a good Saturday to do the job (I pressure washed on Thursday).

I also sprayed the hinges with the clear and I have no rust in my hinges. There are 2 points that are critical:

1. Soak the can of Waxoyl in hot water for about an hour before you start
2. Have a bottle of vegatable oil for clean up. It takes the stuff right of hands, overspray etc...

I have both guns (for the black and the clear)...

There are two companies that make the waxoyl (my understanding). The stuff that Moss Motors sells is cheaper then RN and they do run a sale once a year or so. You can thin it with diesel, paint thinner, kerosene. Pops and I use paint thinner with our stuff, makes it a little easier and you dont have to worry about clumping so much. Somewhere around here is a list of sprayer parts to build your own kit if you dont want to shell out for the kit that RN sells.

We just lay out cheap plastic sheets that you buy in a roll at the hardware store. Park on it and then just fold it up after we're done and throw it out. Keeps the clean up to a minimum.

William,

I have the guns and wands... If anybody in the area wants to use it or do it at my house they are welcome.

Waxoyl is like most things...one can always find it or do it cheaper themselves. I am all for that!

As far as I know the Waxoyl sold by RN on the site is the same basic thing that we use so there is little difference, if any. We are very experienced in applying these sorts of products but it is not rocket science, anyone with some time, energy and brains can do a good job.

Gotta say that it is a bit tough to swallow offering a D90 discount on what is already a very fair price and have it turn into a discussion on how folks can do it themselves. There are plenty of other areas in this forum for that sort of discussion and I would be happy to share what little knowledge I have on the subject.

I did not mean to snipe your offer to the D-90 forum. I do not think that most people will drop the $500 for a RN kit to do one car. I have a lot of D's near me so I put up the money and did my own truck.

I think your discounted offer to the D-90 folks is a nice gesture.
