Absolutely TRUE! And here's why I put that one on. For test fitting/etc I figured things were going to be dragged around a bit...and I didn't want to take the chance of my coveted red one getting bashed up . So the green one is a placeholder! But rest assured, the Fire Truck will soon have a black SDO grill with a red/black BB badge I promise you.

just a 1-11/4" bar that we can hang ram balls off of would be great for those of us whom do not want to cut the dash to install a MUDUK dash or the like. I need a good spot for a HAM radio, iPad, and some other stuff.

Robert: Great idea, love it! I personally would order one in a heart beat.

Jason: Would this be something you would entertain? Mounting it would be easy, it would use the existing screw holes of the defrost vents. All we would have to do is use longer screws.

So currently I decided to make a couple of slight tweaks to the grill, which is turning into another (hopefully last) prototype. Moving the mounting holes up 1/8" (which is a small tweak to allow a little flexibility for the up & down mounting position), and also *most* likely going to be putting a 1/16" bevel on the octagonal grill holes. Aesthetically this will give it a deeper/richer look to the grill, and should also increase airflow slightly (which is more just a side benefit).

If all goes well, the last prototype should be done this week and once I'm pleased with the results...finishing up the production run the latter part of this month. Given that, should still be on track for the end of March (+ or -) to have them done in their entirety.

I'll try to post up some pics once this next prototype is ready.

Front Grill Prototype update

Quick update for those that have been following the thread. After some debate and test-fitting of the last prototype, I decided to make a couple of small tweaks to the grill. Namely just some slight modification to the position of the mounting holes, BUT also to add a 1/16" bevel to each of the octagonal holes. And...am I glad I did, it looks unbelievable!

The change did slow down the production schedule just slightly, but still aiming for likely early/mid April to have them all "done" and ready to go.

As previously mentioned, made some tweaks to the "bending" as well as added bevels to the octagonal holes...both these changes look damn good, I'm glad I went this direction. Anyhow, production run should be completed by 4/6 and heading to powdercoat immediately after. Coming down the home stretch!

Heck yeah! Here's a pic of one of the pallets of grills, both were dropped to powdercoat this week...just waiting for them to wrap them up and we will be ready-to-roll.

I'm splitting the powdercoat run, but in this first batch were all the grills, the interior door handles, and dash defrost vents. Next round (early next week most likely) will be the NAS & ROW switch plates, seat rubbing strips, winch fairleads, and a couple of other little items.

Oh, and the SDO custom boxes for the grills showed up recently as well ....so when they are back from pc they will be ready to ship ASAP!
